All Realignment Talk Here

I think this is most likely going to happen:

@SIPeteThamel: If New East ends up at 12, it would likely be X, Butler, Dayton, SLU and Creighton. (Temple, GMU, VCU will be considered).

I say go after VCU and George Mason and tell Temple to take a hike.

I want this conference to have Zero to do with football. Temple would be free to join if they show in writing that they plan on dissolving their football program. The same would go for any other school.

Doug Gottlieb just crapped all over St. Johns at halftime of the Butler-Indiana game. said no way they can fill Garden playing Butler, but can playing Cuse. Well Cuse is leaving so how about playing SMU?

Gottlieb is a blowhard who no one takes seriously.

Of course MSG wouldn't sell out with that matchup and many other new BE match ups because there is no history.

But I bet you the BE tourney would be one of the most watched conference tourneys out there rathe than a top heavy ACC tourney.

If Butler is a ranked team coming to the Garden, fans will show up and his network will be begging to air it.

Creighton, St. Mary's and San Francisco according to Dave Reynolds of Bradley.

No way.

We agree.

I don't think it would happen but I could see it as a possibility. If you add a west coast team you have to add a travel partner and those two are close enough that you could play a Friday/Sunday with little travel in between, unlike if Gonzaga is involved. If you stop at those three to get to 10, Creighton makes a sense as a West Division foe between the West Coast and Marquette and DePaul.

Exactly. We had to do something. Everyone agrees we would rather be playing Pitt, Syracuse, and UCONN.. but that's not an option anymore Doug!

Commissioner Mike Aresco released this statement today:

“The 13 members of the Conference are confident and united regarding our collective future. We have a strong Conference with respected national universities, and are working together to forge the future. We have a variety of options, and are looking forward with great partnership, collegiality and optimism.”

Interesting note I read today, Gonzaga has their own jet. So traveling isn't a problem for them.
It would be the BE schools bitching about traveling to their place.
But at least for basketball, Gonzaga is more than willing to travel.

Still think we shouldn't expand to the west coast. But it's an interesting point

Did he say if they'd outdraw Tulane?

And now that it is official, there may be word trickling out later today about who will join them...again look to connect the dots. Some of it started with Quinippiac and Monmouth joining the MAAC

Thanks for the headsup...assume by "connect the dots" you are anticpating a domino effect...MAAC lost one, took two in anticpation of a defection to another conference that will lose a team?

If Lavin continues to right the ship and we and Butler are both top 20 teams, that will draw. The new conference should help Butler and new rivalries will develop.

Isn't this just like playing the board game clue?

7 hoops schools can leave Big East June 30, 2015 w/out paying exit fee. To leave earlier would have to negotiate fee w/Big East

Please read the section entitled "College basketball career" in the linked article which describes how media personality Doug Gottlieb was expelled from college after he was charged with stealing credit cards from his roommate and 2 other students and charging over $900 on the stolen credit cards. After Mr. Gottlieb was expelled from his first school he transferred to academic heavyweight Golden West University before again transferring to equal academic heavyweight The Oklahoma State University where he resumed his playing career.

The above information can assist you in understanding Doug's credibility.

Gottlieb is the north end of a horse heading South. He was kicked out of ND for stealing his room mates credit card. He's a bit too full of himself.

I'm sure they're taking a hard look at RPI. No real incentive to adding a school like USF to start a new conference.

I think the C7 need to be patient in this process. Don't just add schools for the sake of adding.

That's what got us into this mess (re: Tulane).
