All Realignment Talk Here

Pick whatever three you want. But don't overload to 14 or something. 18-game home and home conference schedule is the way to go. That leaves plenty of wiggle room for non-conference and tourneys to have strong schedules for everyone.

Agree with above 2 posts.
Would be stunned if the basketball coaches don't have a tremendous amount of input on the additional teams.

Don't want this to be -- or perceived to be -- an exclusively Catholic conference. There are no positives to it, and potentially some negatives. (Strongly believe that sounding too religious-affiliated would be a turnoff to some kids or at least their families.)

Agree. I dont want to piss off and ruin our chances with the Hasidic AAU programs in Williamsburg :)

I agree. It's good to see us taking a stand in all this cr@p. A good day today

RPI
Creighton 29
Butler 7
St Louis 57
Dayton 68
Xavier 41

Tulane 214
Houston 197
USF 163

Says a lot. Think accepting Tulane in all sports -- and possibly ECU -- was the final straw. And if that's what it took to light a fire under St. John's, Georgetown, Nova, et al., we should be thankful that it happened. (Again, would prefer Memphis over any of those you cited except Xavier -- which I think is the consensus #1 choice -- and possibly Butler.)

the is buzz among the georgetown boards that the school doesn't want to split because maybe they might get an invite to the acc. :sick:

I don't think that is happening. Wishful thinking. They have no football to offer and ACC doesn't need Georgetown's bball for anything.

Gtown fans need to stop thinking their you know what doesnt stink.

From the above article:

Loser: UConn and Cincinnati

How bad does that make ya feel!!

As much as I would love to see UCONN suffer, my instincts tell me that the political forces will find a way to land them in the ACC or some other major football conference

I agree with you. I wouldn't be surprised if the Governor and Senators of CT aren't trying to horse swap with other politicians in NC. Connecticut leads the nation in per capita receipts of federal defense dollars... I can see it now: "I'll cede to you two submarine builds and 128 Sikorsky Helicopters for an invite to the ACC.."

I jest of course.. but the politicians will for sure try to exert pressure to the extent possible.

Losing Georgetown would be game over.

The game is over

In our favor

We won. Game set match.

Not so sure, Moose. With Maryland to the Big 10, the DC area is a vacuum that the ACC would like to fill. Could even see them inviting Gtown with the idea that they'll be building a football program a few years down the line.

Bottom line: Sad but true -- watch out for yourself and don't trust anyone.

The ACC will bring in Navy for that market, at least for football.

That'll fill a few Saturdays; the basketball season is a whole other matter, especially with a team of Gtown's stature.

When was memphis supposed to join as far as hoops and if we break away from the conference when would that be effective ?

I'd like an excuse to get 1 travel trip there

If ACC was smart, they would see the writing on the wall, Schools like FSU, Va tech, Clemson and others will bolt first chance they get. If they are already as far north as Boston why would they stop at Gtown, why not add NYC market and solidify a super basketball conf with a lesser football conf with the likes of Temple and Memphis. Add Gtown, STJ's, Nova and you totally upgrade the Bball portion of the conf. Basketball- Duke, NC, Cuse, Pitt, Gtown, STJ, Temple, Wake, Nova, Hall, Prov, Marq, Depaul. One way or another we are headed to a 4 (16) team football mega conf alignment. All other Football schools will be left on the outside looking in.

St. John's --> 28 NCAA's 2 Final Four's #7 winningest all time
Providence-->15 NCAA's 2 Final Four's Elite 8 in 1997
G'Town--> 28 NCAA's 5 Final Four's 1 championship
Seton Hall-->9 NCAA's 1 Final Four lost NIT championship last year
Marquette-->30 NCAA's 3 Final Four's
DePaul-->22 NCAA's 2 Final Four's
Nova-->32 NCAA's 4 Final Four's 1 championship
Xavier-->23 NCAA's 2 Elite 8's
Butler-->11 NCAA's 2 Final Four's advancing to champ games

If anyone thinks this would not be a major basketball conference, you are nuts. This is not even counting if Memphis, UConn, Temple, Cincy come which would only put us over the top.

Aren't Graceland and the "duck walk" at the Peabody Hotel lobby good enough excuses to go there?
