Don't want this to be -- or perceived to be -- an exclusively Catholic conference. There are no positives to it, and potentially some negatives. (Strongly believe that sounding too religious-affiliated would be a turnoff to some kids or at least their families.)

the is buzz among the georgetown boards that the school doesn't want to split because maybe they might get an invite to the acc.

From the above article:

I don't think that is happening. Wishful thinking. They have no football to offer and ACC doesn't need Georgetown's bball for anything.

Losing Georgetown would be game over.

As much as I would love to see UCONN suffer, my instincts tell me that the political forces will find a way to land them in the ACC or some other major football conference

The game is over

Not so sure, Moose. With Maryland to the Big 10, the DC area is a vacuum that the ACC would like to fill. Could even see them inviting Gtown with the idea that they'll be building a football program a few years down the line.
Bottom line: Sad but true -- watch out for yourself and don't trust anyone.

The ACC will bring in Navy for that market, at least for football.
When was memphis supposed to join as far as hoops and if we break away from the conference when would that be effective ?
I'd like an excuse to get 1 travel trip there
