All Realignment Talk Here

These bigger conferences are going to make scheduling a mess too, especially in football.
How many out of conference games are teams going to have? And split divisions creates unbalanced schedules as well. Look at the SEC, this season Alabama got away without having to play any of the good teams from the SEC east - (no Florida, Georgia,, or South Carolina), meanwhile Les Miles and LSU had to play two of those teams.

And that says nothing of non-conference rivalries that are disappearing as a result of more conference games.
Will ND still be playing Michigan in a few years? We've already seen the end of games like Texas/Texas AM and Nebraska/Oklahoma.

To me that's a sin.

It'll be strange not to see Syracuse on our schedule in the future, and probably UCONN as well.

In Chicago, Herb Gould writes, “Not surprisingly, a platoon of Big Ten Network analysts applauded the Maryland acquisition.” KFAN-AM host Dan Barreiro tweeted, “Based on early reaction from Big 10 analysts, Delany trails only Gandhi, Mandela, MLK among visionaries.” However, Gould notes ESPN analysts were “not afraid to use their harpoons.” ESPN’s Bruce Pearl said, "I just don’t understand it. They talk about student-athlete welfare. How’s the road trip from Maryland to Nebraska going to be for the volleyball team or the fans who want to travel?” (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 11/20).

ESPN must have dissentary watching their baby go down the drain. (ACC)

Reported that the ACC would be in serious jeopardy of losing their BCS qualifying status if Fla. St., Clemson and Va Tech bolt.

Think that whiney Coach K gives a damn about that? He's got Duke's administration in his pocket, and all he's ever cared about is destroying the Big East (mission accomplished!) and creating a basketball conference that's so powerful it can be impervious to the NCAA.

If FSU, Clemson, VT, and maybe even Miami all bolt, it no longer becomes a long shot of G'Town, UConn, Nova, SJ joining the ACC. The funny part is, our teams escaped the Big East to focus on football, now the big football schools want to leave and they will be right back where they started. Wish there was just a reset button to a few years ago. What a mess.

It will still be a ridiculous long shot. We don't have football plain and simple.

Any chance Cuse/Pitt rejoin the Big East if Miami, FSU, VT, Clemson, etc. bolt the ACC and realize it's no longer worth it after the football powers leave?

endee has already dropped michigan from their future schedule.
Good thing they joined the ACC though.
At least they can play the carolina schools.

conference realignment is such a mess.

Francesa:

Big East should go back to what they were originally and build on that tradition.

Basketball schools should get together and throw out the carpet baggers.

IF the ACC takes UCONN or Louisville to replace Maryland (I'm hearing FSU and Clemson don't want UCONN) and IF the BIG XII doesn't come in and grab two BE schools (Louisville/UCONN and Cincinnati) then should FSU, Clemson, VT and maybe even Miami all bolt then the ACC looks at the BE and looks at taking schools with football programs to replace them (South Florida to replace FSU as their Florida school), either Louisville/UCONN, Cincinnati and one other FB school). ACC is not looking at non-FB schools - at least not now. Also, if all those schools bolt the ACC becomes $200 million dollars richer.

Sorry but as of this moment I don't see any bright light at the end of the tunnel for SJ. I pray that I'm wrong. Would LOVE to see SJ in the ACC.

Even sorrier (to you Tom from Salem) but right now I think that Paul may be saying "Thank you, Mrs. Hewitt" to his wife.

I agree with the sentiment, but it's easier said than done. If they made that decision (which they very well may), they are going to lose millions in the process.

It might be worth it in the long run, but from a short term perspective it is going to hurt from a money standpoint.

That being said, I still have always liked the idea of the Catholic schools (St. John's, Georgetown, Villanova, Providence, Seton Hall, Marquette, DePaul) breaking off and creating their own conference. If you add 5 more solid basketball programs and you've created one of the better basketball conferences in the country.

I think the Big 12 is going to launch a preemptive strike against the ACC and invite Louisville, Cincy, and USF, and also pilfer Clemson, FSU, and Miami.

Texas | Texas Tech | TCU | OU | OSU |KU | KSU | BU

WVA | ISU | FSU | Clemson | Miami | Cincy | Louisville | USF

Then watch the SEC take Va. Tech and N.C. State, and the Big 10 take Boston College and Georgia Tech.

I think the ACC is going to be picked clean.

There is no way on God's green earth that The Big 10 is going to invite BC into their conference.

It's division by zero.

More likely would be UNC and/or Kansas.

Of course the ACC could then (if they wished) pick off what's left of the BE FB schools - Houston, SMU, Central Florida, Memphis, Temple, even San Diego State and Boise State.

SDSU AD on radio today indicated BE will announce replacement schools very soon. SDSU and Boise looking for FB only school on West Coast. BYU was everyone's hope but with recent changes any new TV contract will lessen and with that lessen BYU wanting to join. Feeling is it will be Fresno State. Should ACC grab either Louisville or UCONN schools mentioned most are East Carolina as first choice, then either Tulsa or Tulane. These would be added for all sports. For what it's worth at last word I'm hearing Louisville is making a push to get the ACC spot.

Word up here Kevin is that beecee is begging on both knees to leave.
Don't rule them out.
Maryland and rutgers proved it's about tv sets, not athletics.

Wouldn't it be funny if the BE defectors tried to go back to the BE (ala SDSU, BYU and Boise)... :)

Obviously the $50M exit fee would get in the way

one of the requirements of admission to the big 10 is that the school must be a member of the AAU...(American Association of Universities).....BC is not a member....
