It's no use crying over spilled milk. and Don't cry over spilled milk.
Prov. Do not be upset about making a mistake, since you cannot change that now. -See Jones, Christian

It appears that the Christian Jones legend is growing by the day. All for a player that scored 8 points a game on a team with less talent than this year's version. My memory is good enough to recall a player that would make one good play on offense, and then turn the ball over the next 2 times he touched it. The team went 1-18 in conference last year with CJ getting 25 minutes a game. Guess he didn't help them all that much. CJ is like Richard Todd's backup. Had to be an improvement, because Todd stunk. Thar's the thinking for a lot of posters. I say let the guy be. Even if he added a win or 2, the team would not likely be in a post season tournament. I don't like Ali's game one bit, but never thought CJ was a difference maker like many seem to believe. If he was still playing here, he would be getting slammed on this board for his having no BB IQ despite being a 5th year player.

'Legend is growing"
Blame Sima, Owens, Yakwe and especially Alibegovic for that. Heck I am starting to miss Marco Baldi, Sean Muto and Rob Cornegy.

The thing that puzzles me w Amar is he's not that good from 3 pt. range. Why can't he just take a higher percentage 2 pt. shot?

Every once and awhile he makes one so he like some posters on here claim he can shoot threes. Well I guess in comparison to RF he is Rick Barry so maybe that is what he is basing his three point shooting on?

Funny at last game Monte & I were humorously discussing Muto & potential minutes on this team, remembering how frustrated we were with his play back then. Our conclusion; we could use him.

I said it in another post and will repeat it here. Christian Jones played three games for UNLV and got hurt. It is not clear if and when he comes back. He is injury prone.

Are you a Calvinist? Because unless Jones injury was preordained its unlikely he would have suffered the same fate had he lived his life under different circumstances. He seemed pretty healthy last year: 25 minutes a game over 32 games. And even hopping around on one leg he'd be better than Alimakeawish and Darrien Williams.

The problem with Amar is the coaching. He does what they want him to do.

I seriously doubt Chris Mullin is telling Amar to stink. If he is he should be fired immediately.

If they want him inside, they'd coach him to play inside. Are the coaches exempt from any responsibility with where he positions himself on the court?

None of the players have any semblance of a post up move. Sima tries but foot movement and positioning is a big problem with these kids. That happens when student coaches are playing teacher.

Would be happy if someone could just gather than go up strong. Thought Yakwe would at least be able to do that.

I've gotten into the habit of counting when Sima gets the ball down low. The results are discouraging. Last year it was like Yakwe was all urgency. He was frenetic and everywhere. This year the two of them have no sense of it. These two have to start thinking speed. Everything in fast motion - once they actually have the ball in their hands and control of it. Emeril Lagasse for big man coach: Bam! Explode to the hoop instantly. (and a little pork fat wouldn't hurt)

Ive argued the same thing last year . Not that Jones looked like a world beater. But if there was one thing we lacked it was muscle. Could never understand taking Amar over Jones. Jones would have been gone after this year freeing up another scholi. He just seemed to fill our needs more.

Unfortunately, that is the hardest thing to learn (not teach) or incorporate for foreign players; how to react to the speed of the game. That immediate action/reaction which is so ingrained in the muscle memory of players who have played virtually every day for years is just not instinctive for guys like Sima and Yakwe. it is especially hard for bigs who are constantly surrounded and attacked from all angles when they get the ball You can do all the drills you want but choreographed moves do not necessarily translate to a game very easily at this level; it all just happens so fast.

Start with the KISS Principle. Get the ball. No Dribble. Dunk and/or get fouled.

Jones had plenty of holes in his game too. He finished off nice for us but plenty of his game was putting the ball on the floor and dribbling before shooting and thus causing a turnover. Bottom line is Ali needs to play underneath and they need to work with him there.

Every program in the country covets 5th year seniors. SJU, 8 and 29 since last November, we don't need one.

Jones was a starter on my All Time Softy team but I gave him appropriate props for improvement. No question we could use both maturity and muscle but I'd rather see our guys develop.

I don't disagree, it is just easier said than done. To get 'clichish" - if it was easy anyone could do it.

Paul although I agree with the sentiment about guys developing, I am not sure we have seen that yet from Sima or Yakwe. Sometimes guys never get better and it is what it is. Hope you are right.

I'd rather beat Delaware State than watch Alibegowiz and Williams improve, as fulfilling as that is.

At the very least Jones could have been Ahmed's wingman when he gets us into a brawl. As it stands now Ahmed will have to take care of things by himself

Owens grabbed 12 boards against Podunk State in an exhibition game. We are all set up front! End of story!
