Adonis De La Rosa,

Happy for Adonis, and for SJU. Hope he has a great career both in college basketball, and the pros! Sounds like a good kid!
 
Welcome ADR! The way things have been looking with our program the last few weeks this is a big get. Lets hope he stays away from mongoris hall .
 
I hope it works out for him. He has a lot of upside if he puts in the work.

1) I hate Lavin, but pretty happy we're signing Adonis. I think a lot of the haters would say the same.

Just hard for me to hate a basketball coach, even if I don't believe in him. Jury is still out for me on Lavin, will see what he is made of now. But hate, don't think so.
 
hate in the sense that I'm among the "haters" as far as this board is concerned. Meaning more or less I'm not a fan and would like to see a different coach hired.
Nothing more than that guys. I'll use my words more carefully next time.

I've seen his numbers posted from FIU but man he looked big/rock solid sitting there...if only that physical presence could translate to rebounds lol

I agree if Adonis can get in that type shape. He will be a solid center.
 
Key component that comes with ADR is basketball IQ , something that sju basketball team as a whole lacks.

Very good point. ADR probably sees that the only thing keeping him from playing 30 minutes a game is his own conditioning. So maybe that gives him so extra incentive to get into great shape, knowing the minutes are there.
 
Chilleb on JJ has been mentioning that it's not a sure thing he qualifies. Take that fwiw. He claims ADR needs to retake the SAT.
He's usually pretty good about these things.
 
a lot of comments about the weight, but wasn't this kid like a blimp early in his high school playing days? i think he already is showing commitment in that regard, and after seeing that one interview clip a few months back talkin' about St. John's, he seems to have a clue too about the game, and he's so undeniably a city kid in his tone. I welcome the signing, and why not, he's local...something pleaded for on this board for years. Does Lavin push transfers out because of incoming recruits???
