Adonis De La Rosa,

Paultzman unless I am reading incorrectly I don't see any rave review written about Adonis but rather an article that says he continues to improve.
Do I hope we get him, absolutely but there is nothing I have read about him which states that he is ready to contribute immediately in the Big East. If anything everything written points to the opposite.
I am fully aware that you can't teach size but we have a lengthy recent history of big men who never developed. At this stage in Lavins tenure and with playing time immediately available at the 5 I thought we could do much better than a project whom it is unanimously agreed needs to be in much better shape. I would think that if Adonis did not play at the local Catholic school there would be very little interest on anyone's part.

Never raved about him. Tom Konchalski and JPM both think he can be a good college big if he works hard and gets in shape. To me that is a big "if", but I am willing to give it a try. Who else are we going to get in 14? Of course some of the other bigs in 14 class are better than him, but we failed to get them. I am also basing my opinion on having seen him improve over the last three years. Again, I don't see him as an instant impact player, but someone worth investing in.

So we are saying the same thing then.
He may help down the road. A big if as you put it.
Once again, I thought we could do better from our position today, meaning bring in a player that could contribute immediately.

Build goodwill.

The perception of the staff is that they thumb their noses at local schools. Deservedly so or not, you have a potential Top 20 player as ADR's current teammate.

ADR's contribution next year doesn't concern me too much because we've basically got nothing out of our current backup centers in Gift and Sanchez.

So ADR can come in and avg 10 and 7?

Nice twist.

Neither has been a viable backup. If Sanchez' 7 PPG was what we all envisioned prior to the season, then I stand corrected.

We have no idea of how Chris J has developed over the past year. Is he a pure 4, 3-4, 4-5? Adonis makes sense and with Felix coming back and our guard strength we could go for a Juco scorer and a combo point to fill out this class.

if he sheds the baby fat and tones up a lot over the summer, I really wouldn't be shocked to see him as a starter (Sampson at SF, Obekpa at PF).

I literally have no clue what Lavin will cook up so anything is possible, even if De La Rosa is not nearly prepared for BE play.

And if that happens I could see him averaging 5 and 4. He's got decent hands, which puts him above a lot of other frosh big men. Those other guys can usually jump over a thimble, however.

Assuming they are selling tix at the door for tomorrow's game?

At this point we have 3 scolis open, 0 recruits and a desperate need for a backup center. Why not take him. We still have 2 scholis open and that's assuming everyone returns.

We will take him.

Catholic School finals at Fordham are often PACKED. Go early?

I went the other night only for the CTK game. Got there bout 730 for 8 start and the other game was already over. We got ticket and it was a pretty good crowd. More than a Fordham game haha. No expert but would say try to get their 30 mins early.

I don't know what #2 means but I agree with #1. He has to play the 4 if he wants to play in the NBA.

Meaning even if Obekpa can't play the 4, I wouldn't put is past Lavin to put him there while experimenting. That said, I think he has the ability to play the 4, but everyone's always in such a rush to get to the NBA he might not be here to play well there as a senior.

@ctkcoachjarbs: Jim Larrañaga just offered Adonis Delarosa. He now holds offers from St. John's Fordham Hofstra South Carolina and Miami. Congrats
