Adonis De La Rosa,

Like to replace Gifts, and Sanchez's schollie with De La Rosa and Darrick Wood.
nab Govan , Diallo, and Briscoe for 2015.

I love that 2015 class, but I'd like to save two scholarships for transfers or late releases. There are always a handful of awesome recruits available when the coaching carousel starts spinning--and then existing coaches leave to fill those vacancies. I also look at the mid-season transfer list like a kid looking into a toy shop window around Christmas.

I wonder if there is any thought on redshirting someone next season to smooth out the 2015 transition? Perhaps Greene or even Pointer if the staff is confident in Balamou and/or Jones.

Ive thought about that option for greene. Would have Jordan, dlo, branch to play bulk minutes and Felix to play spot. Plus the year after Phil could have a year to be a primary scorer.

Don't see that happening. Can't see how you'd do that to a kid going into his senior year with all of his classmates together for 4 years when the team has a chance to do something special. If everyone comes back we are looking at a pre-season top 25 and favorite to win the Big East. Can't see how we don't go for it with all hands on deck. Let's face it, Felix as our backup 2 guard is not going to cut it. If Dlo got hurt and missed any extended time we'd be in trouble.

Let's see who we sign. I'm sure things will look much better once we get a couple of commitments. Right now things look unbalanced but we are assuming guys are going pro and we don't get anyone. If no one leaves early we could do a lot worse than a nucleus of Jordan, Sampson, Opekpa, Jones and Hooper. I'm sure Lavin will have a couple of surprises for us. We could also bring in a transfer if there are coaching changes or a guy like Jermaine Lawrence isn't happy about playing time.

With Branch here next year you have Jordan able to play the two guard if you don't have D'Lo for any period of time. The players that are newbies next year will give continuity to the '15 class along with Chris O and Chris J and Felix and Hooper. No need to redshirt a senior for what could be a very big year. Let Phil play, just not point guard.

Redshirting Phil is an interesting debate. Do we have a good SG coming in next year or 15?, if not, redshirting Phil maybe advantageous, he could get plenty of PT in15. The other side of the coin is, you never know when we could have an injury. If 1 of our guards got injured next year, it sure would be nice to have Phil around. FWIW,I doubt Lavin redshirts him.

Redshirt Phil for what? LOL. That's crazy.

I think people take for granted the potential that Felix has. All Felix needs is a consistent jumper and he'll be a good player for us in time. I was watching videos from his senior year last week and I was really impressed with his overall skillset.

He plays very under control and that is key for someone with his type of athleticism.

He didn't show us much last year but that is really because we had no system to speak of. He was just out there running and hustling.

I see huge upside with Felix. Just my opinion.

to redshirt Balamou is one thing, but Greene who has virtually been a starter for 3 years is crazy and insulting to him.
next year we have: starters
G- DLo
G- Jordan
G-Greene
F- Sampson
C-Obekpa
and the bench:
G/F- Pointer
F- Jones
G/F- Hooper
G- Branch
G- Balamou. we are still pretty deep, just smaller. Obviously another Big would be great. DeLaRosa or JUCO, our troubles are in two years so we really need to beef up on the 2015 class. Id be happy with DeLaRosa for 2014 and the rest on 2015. Just my toughts.

A better team next year on paper without question.
This is a topic for a new thread but, aside from Creighton, all the BE teams will/should be better next season.

Is Bryce Cotton a senior?

Yes, Batts too.

He'll have the 2 guys sitting out this season back (Bullock & Dunn) + the # 27 ranked class to build on.

But will they ever suit up is the question with Cooley's recruiting classes.

Atson played a great game and had a nice dunk. He was being covered by St Raymond's highly athletic Freshman starter.

One evaluator's opinion;

@SteveKellerNRR: 2nd Semi saw Christ the King smoke St Raymond's 77-53/6'9 Sr Adonis Delarosa plays below rim but still gets it done/becoming serviceable HM

That's what I saw at the game. He's not a shot blocker. He uses his big body to gain position on offense and defense. He has a nice little pull up jumper and can hit it from 15 feet. Needs to slim down and add muscle. Definitely some upside.

See Texas big man Cameron Ridley. Huge as a freshman struggled to get up and down court, slimmed down during off season added muscle, has been a force this year down low and is front runner for big 12 most improved player of the year. Could definitely see a similar thing happening for Adonis, depends on the kids work ethic.

I think Ridley was more skilled coming into college, but not a crazy comparison.

No doubt. Ridley was a five star recruit, a McD All American I believe, but there are some definite similarities when comparing both of them, and I think de la Rosa could benefit heavily growing under obekpa.
