Ackerman should be fired

By having Rick as coach. The winning streak and the show us and conn put on at the garden I feel saved our season. I can see how we got left out but 3 bids val can make a bit of a stink. I wonder how fox made out in the ratings?
The ratings were the highest all season. The issue is we have big football conferences carving each other up. The Pac 10 is practically kaput. The Big East has been hurt again by these people...and they could care less if we end up al low minor status. So what's Val going to do about it?

Dear RMN
Thank you, however…
“ Disappointing “???
Rick Pitino assumed control of the program at the 11th hour in March 2023, and had so little time to prepare, recruit and form a team from a dozen players who never even saw each other before the season.
It could be viewed as a marvelous job done by our head coach and staff in light of the circumstances.
Does anyone doubt that with this first year under his belt - and with more time to recruit and practice - things will go in a very positive direction 2024-25?
My 98 year old mom died March 9, 2024 and that - as well as family illnesses that we all unfortunately face - helps keep college basketball and this NCAA snub - in perspective
Blessings

Sorry for your loss. I pray for recovery for the est of your family who are suffering illness.

Well Bob... Don't blow a double digit 2H lead to BC... Win 3 of the 6 games vs Hall/UConn/Marq.... you finish the reg season at 23-8 /14-6. There are your Goal posts.
Bob is right. You are wrong. He wasn't referring to "what could have beens" he was referring to the metrics that have been used in factoring into determining what team gets the bids. Those metrics are the "goalposts' and the selection committee kept moving them throughout the seeding process. Look at the responses given as to why certain teams were given bids .They were a morass of contradictions to justify why they picked certain teams, constantly moving the goalposts.

my bad- should have ended my statement with - "...Don't need to worry about Goal posts then"

My condolences to you and your family.

They beat uconn and Marquette (1 and 2 seed) and lost in OT to creighton if we’re gonna give bonus points to us for close loses.

13 & 7!!?!
Yes and what about the game was it creighton or butler where they fell on Dingle with one second left as he shot the ball and NO foul was called. We lose by one point. Dingle would have made two foul shots to win that game. I'm disappointed in pitino for nor complaining to the ref. It happened right in front of him

That was right after kalkbrenner went into Jenkins in a way that would have drawn a 15 yard penalty in the NFL if DJ was the QB.

As soon as those 2 last minute non calls happened I figured that would be the excruciatingly heartbreaking tight margin we would miss the tournament by and it turned out to be so. Have to admit when we beat Seton Hall at the Garden I thought we would dance for the first time all season and it turned out not to be so.

Disagree about the Hall getting robbed the most . We beat them handily on Thursday by 19 points and we gave UCONN a better game than , either Xavier or , Marquette . Losing only by 5 points , 95-90.

During our late season run , we also beat Creighton pretty easily . Creighton is a 3 seed .

Losing to Michigan in the early season or BC , Big 10 and ACC school is not like losing to Robert Morris or Thomas Acquinas .

Purdue lost to Rutgers and Wisconsin , to me those are bad losses if you are a Number 1 seed in the tournament .

I think us, SH and PC all should have been included , without question or controversy .
Our Conference got screwed plain and simple .

And , where is our Commissioner ‘s outrage ?

She should be impeached!
Not sure if this has been posted but received the below email form our AD. Didn't say much about how the BE would remedy this situation going forward, but did put a positive spin on future prospects.

St. John’s fans, alums, season ticket members and followers,

There is no doubt you are like me – disappointed, heartbroken, and angry - after watching the NCAA Tournament selection show last night. But also like me, I hope you are more determined than ever to help St. John’s and are ready to double down on the exciting future of our men’s basketball program. Not being selected as one of the top 36 at-large teams and with the highly rated BIG EAST receiving only three bids to the NCAA Tournament is beyond my comprehension. It certainly underrepresents the best of our conference but we will move forward together.

My heart aches for this tremendous group of young men who brought us all pride, renewed passion, and a revived love for St. John’s Basketball in 2023-24. My biggest thanks and gratitude go to Jordan Dingle, Nahiem Alleyne, Daniss Jenkins, Chris Ledlum, Joel Soriano, Sean Conway, Glenn Taylor, Jr., Sadiku Ibine Ayo, Cruz Davis, RJ Luis, Jr., Zuby Ejiofor, Drissa Traore, Simeon Wilcher and Brady Dunlap! This is an amazing group on and off the court who gave their all every day and always wore the Red & White with pride.

Furthermore, a salute to our entire coaching staff and support team who poured everything into this season since arriving on campus last Spring. They helped inspire and motivate everyone around them on a daily basis. I know they are also hurting today and our hearts go out to them.

Most importantly, my full credit, praise, and thankfulness goes to our Hall of Fame Coach Rick Pitino for his teaching, leadership, and work ethic. It has been a joy to see his profound spirit and energy captivate all the team members and our entire St. John’s community. His passion and determination to build the St. John’s Basketball program and elevate the entire University is contagious. I’m looking forward to seeing it grow even bigger in 2024-25.

This excitement leads me to thanking each of you for being on our team and getting involved in record numbers! Season ticket membership and total ticket sales were way up. Also, your engagement with the University through participation in events and following on social media was terrific. You continue to provide our daily inspiration to get better and to double down on our efforts for next season! We are not going to be satisfied until we have every available ticket sold and donor participation ranks among the highest in the BIG EAST. We can do it!

To be clear, I could not be more excited for our future together. We need your assistance and leadership in buying more tickets, adding to your Red-White Club giving, encouraging your alumni friends to buy tickets, and with everyone coming to more games. I can also assure you that St. John’s remains committed to doing its part to support the basketball program with many upgrades in and around Carnesecca Arena, along with a game-changing new basketball practice facility.

Although today is tough for many of us, there is so much to be thankful for and I am glad you are on our team!

Let's Go Johnnies!

Always a challenge in a secondary Tournament to play well. PC played 3 games last week in 3 days . A grueling schedul.
And , what’s the motivation for them or us , if we chose to play , after being so unfairly dismissed from the NCAA?

In my opinion , the BE schools should ALL have declined the NIT as a protest of the Selection travesty .

But , our Commissioner did not step forward with a semblance of Leadership at all .

Said hi to you recently at MSG courtesy of MJMJr intro, my condolences on the loss of your mom, may her soul rest in peace in Heaven.

The dickwads on the Committee and the NCAA in general don't get the message of these kinds of protests.

We made our decision, the other school Presidents and coaches made theirs, so be it.

A really good showing in the NIT by all BE participants won't send a message to Bubba and General McClennan either.

A really bad BE showing in the NIT and NCAAs will be bad optics though.

Let’s call the selection process what it is…CORRUPT… Virginia proved that. And where’s Ackerman taking a stand. If the Big Ten or ACC got screwed there would be news conferences all over the place. Ackerman has NO BALLS….. literally and figuratively. I’m so pissed about this its gonna take a while for me to get over it.
