Ackerman should be fired

Dear RMN
Thank you, however…
“ Disappointing “???
Rick Pitino assumed control of the program at the 11th hour in March 2023, and had so little time to prepare, recruit and form a team from a dozen players who never even saw each other before the season.
It could be viewed as a marvelous job done by our head coach and staff in light of the circumstances.
Does anyone doubt that with this first year under his belt - and with more time to recruit and practice - things will go in a very positive direction 2024-25?
My 98 year old mom died March 9, 2024 and that - as well as family illnesses that we all unfortunately face - helps keep college basketball and this NCAA snub - in perspective
Blessings

Sorry for your loss SS and G. No matter how old your mom is as she was still your mom and only mom. I lost mine some time ago and always think of her. Having gone through and while continuing to of through some health issues, while it does help put Johnny hoops in perspective, the hoop season also serves as a distraction from everyday issues. When you are going through an illness, a good St John’s season gives you something to look forward to even during some dark days.

Barry Collier of Butler while the rest of the committee talks about screwing the Big East and his Alma Mater, Indiana State, for a week straight.

He must be related to Hinkle . Our real venom , in addition to the Committee , should be reserved for the ridiculous number of teams selected from the Big 12 , Big 10 , Mountain West

Kansas stunk this year and finished mid pack in their league . They must get invited by Robots every year . Same with Gonzaga , St Mary’s.

Michigan State had a so/ so Season but , can’t leave Izzo out and disrupt his streak of appearances.

And , how does this Committee justify the Saturday losses by 3 of their number 1’s and still give them. 1 seed ?
Purdue ? Is getting ready for its annual loss in the early rounds of the Tourney
Houston got smoked by Iowa State and scored 41 points and lost by 29 ,

So this imbecilic Committee ,,pretty much had their teams selected by Saturday night , even after their top teams , except UCOnn , all lost .

And , it appears that all the Bracket gurus , who told us we were in after beating SH , were so wrong Seems the Committee really never considered us , PC or SH at all .

BE schools should be mad ! The league was insulted . You hear that Val ?

Where is Barry Collier's explanation for how he was steamrolled last week? Or perhaps he is happy with how he let things work out for his mid-west teams where he spent his entire career.

The name of this thread should be "Collier screwed his league".

The guy is not a Big East person. Just check out his Bio. He had no interest in helping East Coast teams and he got what he wanted this year.

I'd bet $100 he advocated harder for Indiana State than any bubble Big East team. Big East gets to appoint someone to the committee. It falls on Ackerman, why would you choose Collier of all people? I totally agree with you, but it's another bad decision made by her.

He needs to be removed immediately. We need a Mulllin’s Revenge type in there to wear them down and not give an inch.

How do you know it was her decision? It is an NCAA committee. It is not a Big East Committe
Each of the five main conferences can nominate a representative. So whether it was Val's sole decision, or listening to other members, it does fall on her what the result ultimately is.

Collier is the guy who should be talking to the press. Where is the press? Why isn't Zach getting the guy on the phone?

I also send my condolences for your loss SS&G. I lost my mom when I was very young and she was sick with an incurable disease for 10 years before she passed.

I came to this board when I lost my wife suddenly in a car accident almost 8 years ago. I found friendship, solace and family here and it helped to alleviate my pain and sorrow. This board helped me get through the worst time of my life and I have always been thankful that you guys were here when I needed you most. Thank you to Paul, thank you to my fellow site members and thank you to my Lord, Jesus Christ for giving me the tools that I needed when I needed them most.

Dear General,

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mother.
You were blessed to have her for such an extended period of time and I trust you appreciate same.

Disappointing, 100%, the sole goal and the only goal is to Dance, which we did not. So how can it be anything but disappointing ?
I know attendance was up, ticket sales were up, NIL was up, but that all means nothing if we did not dance.
Yes recruiting was harder for him, no doubt about that. I have first hand knowledge of same as I tried with Van to get two of my son's best friends to switch from Seton Hall and Northeastern to SJU but they had already been contacted by other schools and went forward with their visits and committed respectively to Florida and Butler.
But conversely who told him to jettison almost the entire team ?
That was his decision, however I have my suspicions as to why that occurred and I hope I am dead wrong about my suspicions.
We will see how next season goes and I will reserve comment until a year from now. I hope that things will be radically improved in 2024-25.
I don't have blind faith but do believe we have an excellent coaching staff.

Once again my sympathies on the loss of your mom and I hope your family is well and healthy.

I volunteer. I remember back when I coached how proud and happy I was when we danced in my season 3 after not making it in year 1 or 2. My boss was on the Ncaa committee which likely helped me and had interesting stories about the selection process.
Is this a Jeopardy clue or a real post?
