Ackerman should be fired

She should be raising hell about how the Net is used, not what factors are important. Assuming they weighed all the factors to come up with a Net number, why did teams with a higher Net get into the tournament before us. If you choose based on the factors, the Net means squat!

Vote Demo for Committee chair !!!

More nonsense for the masses. I thought the NCAA used KPI (whatever that is), not NET. Ackerman and the BE “leadership” are a joke.
Oh. Thanks. This is helpful. We should all feel relieved (sarcasm alert).
She will respond once she and staff complete their investigation for the root causes of the selection committee oversight.

I suspect there are a lot of machinations going on. As a woman, I don’t think her standing on a table screaming will get us anywhere. Let the fans and — an important point here - the New York and national media do the screaming. They are definitely hearing it, with or without Val. It’s a good strategy for her to take the practical approach. (Note, I didn’t say the “high road”. ) Demand that the committee explain themselves and (hopefully) put it in writing. What should we do to avoid a MWC six invite in the future, with only three from BE. (Obviously, it’s not NET.)

Once we get explanations in writing and advice as to how to avoid this in future, implement it. Then, we have a reason and evidence to threaten a lawsuit.

That’s how I would handle this very difficult situation. There’s a lot of money on the line and just trying to shame the old boys club of the big ten, sec, etc. won’t work. That’s a tactic that can only win on the fringes. We’ve got to put real muscle into the response.

Pure garbage.

Pure garbage.
Possibly. But what would your approach be? Vent your spleen for your own and some fans gratification? As noted, I think that end is already being handled by media, coaches and fans.

College sports is in a very precarious place right now. There is an enormous amount of money on the table. And a handful of guys in charge of a small number of “power” conferences want to make sure they control what remains. Simply adding to the noise and chaos isn’t going to accomplish anything.

So we need a conscious strategy to try to position ourselves as best we can. What should we do?

So with all that has gone on for the last, I don’t know, couple of decades, with all the realignment and conference shuffling, and NIL and portal, with talk of unions and becoming university employees, and finally massive TV contracts: oh, but wait, I completely forgot, The COMPLETE DEMISE of the best college basketball conference ever, the original BE, NOW the BE administration and ADs “need a conscious strategy”?
Just what the hell have they been doing all these years since the rebirth of the conference, counting their money? People on this board have been mentioning forever that the P5 conferences would not be happy until that had it all; the BE administration seemingly sat back and reveled in their description of themselves as basketball’s “P6”, while “the other side“ was waiting to attack; so the BE was caught completely unawares and unprepared.
The time for waiting and strategizing has come and gone; the BE was clearly shown where they were at and seemingly caught thinking they were “one of the boys” and with no idea this was coming. Their Butler rep didn’t let the BE “powers that be” this was happening? That SJU was not even on the table? That SHU with 13 BE wins including BIG ones was going to be shut out? So the BE takes a day to release a non-response response and looks neutered and defenseless. IMO the first card they had to play was to go full bore public, loud and hard and relentlessly. And they did and continue to do nothing, except for pretty much ironically as it relates to this board, Danny Hurley.

I don’t disagree with much of what you say here. It may very well be too little too late. But we have to do something besides complain loudly. Besides, the best person on our behalf to complainIS Danny Hurley since it doesn’t sound like sour grapes.

I just don’t think shame has changed a thing. It’s been proven they just don’t care. Whether we like it or not, the only things that has worked against the NCAA’s arrogance are lawsuits. But you have to build a solid case. Let’s force them to explain themselves in a non-vague way.

Sounds all well and good but what exactly are the grounds for a lawsuit on a multiple criteria subjective selection process at which the BE had representation on the committee? A selection process BTW, that always leaves someone feeling screwed. The difference I feel is this was done to a conference, not a team. Anyway, a lawsuit a complete non-starter IMO.

Nothing short of this.

Who exactly are they hearing? Jay Wright, who sat there on the Selection Sunday broadcast and said nothing? Or the millions of fans who are tuning into the Tourney this year, in record breaking numbers? No one outside the Big East cares and even the average fan inside the Big East will move on shortly. That is what Val Ackerman is counting on.

All those people arrested in Yankees hats have done a number on them.
My only thing is did he get that sweatshirt in a pile of donated team gear, usually those countries have ppl walking around in championship shirts of teams that were supposed to won that year.
