a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter

The good news is only 9 weeks until the games begin. We have the talent to make some real noise (as opposed to the noise on this thread) if we get good news on MH in next month or so as anticipated. All the speculation regarding staff will work itself out. I, for one, am in no position to speculate what's actually going on behind the scenes.

Hopefully the next installment of the top 50 BE players will come out soon to offer helpful distraction for us redmen.comers!

Except that this isn't true. The staff has been on campus this summer and has worked out with players. Mullin personally oversaw multiple daily sessions with various players showing up at different times. As did St. Jean.
Your post, and I know how you know this to be true, is what absolutely galls me about some of our posters. They don't have a damned factual clue as to what's happening, yet have created this narrative as if its fact because some very negative people here spread it around.

I don't have the time or desire to monitor the daily whereabouts of activities of our coaches, yet guys who have too much time on their hands and very little facts choose to spread horseshit so virulent that double shifting uber drivers write nauseating proclamations of fact with no actual proof. Damnit, even with court approved wiretaps, and a detail of private investigators you woukdnt know for certain how our coaches interact with players or each other, or how they prepare for games or practice.

Practice what you preach guys. Many if you cant make it out to CA because traffic is too bad, the seats are not comfy, or it's too hot inside and too cold outside. Others skip 9 pm garden games because they are too late. Still others are local but dont go to games at all, instead bitching her that the team isnt good enough.

The winner though is the guy who looks to score free tickets here but asserted we shouldnt buy tickets until the school gets it and produces a winner. Shit, there's some irony there.

Shit guys, ate your lives so damned miserable that you have nothing better to do than malign people who are working to turn this program into winners?

Oh yea. Our coach makes $2 MM. yea it's a shit load of money for those of us who are or were in the rat race. Begrudge it, but the last guy made that much and so will the next guy. Yea, our staff is well paid, get over it.

If someone isnt working hard, the ARE people with influence who will force Mullin's hand if he wont do it himself.

But PLEASE, stop the daily entree of leftover bullshit. It isnt good, it isnt real food, and tastes even worse reheated.
Been there, done that". Hasn't worked.

I would rather rely on Panther or someone actually on staff in a lesser role if I were you.

Other than that, good job of maligning every fan of the program who may be expressing a less than positive review of the shit show you seem to have been enjoying at 9pm at MSG on a work night in the middle of a 10 game losing streak.
I'm sure it was all LoVett's and Lavin's fault anyway.

Finally, be very weary what a player's parent says publicly because under the surface something has been going on and the fact that the season or first practice hasn't even occurred is cause for concern and according to your script Marcellus's dad is a guy who has too much time on their hands and very little facts and chooses to just spread horseshit because he read a tweet.

Here is a fact for you.....Mitch Richmond has been completely MIA. Mully has been back and forth but not because of the basketball program but has made a few appearances. That person of influence has been vocal because he has been hearing the same horse shirt you choose to minimize. The next coach will earn a lot more than $2 million because we obviously can afford it.

On the plus side, unless this team pulls a "Lavin", and gets out of the gates 0-5, very quickly our oldest school redmen will be jumping for joy the way they did after we beat Nova and Duke. Or was it Duke and Nova. Maybe it was #4 team and #1 eventual national champion Nova. I forget - it was just only 2 games, and for some doesn't erase the stink of losing, what 23 games in a row or whatever it was.

I'm looking forward to lots of smiley faces around here, maybe even a guy willing to pay face value for big games like Nova instead of trolling to get them for free. I'm so freaking excited I can't contain myself.

I'm gonna throw $20 on the huge bet that Figueroa becomes a huge impact player for us and fan favorite. Any takers?

Hard to argue with much of what you said here. But I do believe, and rightfully so, Beast was more focused on the snake posters on this board who want nothing but failure for this regime and drool over any type of potential negatives. Plenty of keyboard warriors if something goes wrong but are no where to be found when we win games or there are positive happenings with the program. Those posters need to reevaluate their life choices, life is too short to be constantly disgruntled and crying because you have some personal agenda. If you don't want the program to succeed then it's quite odd you waste time firing away on this message board.

I've been a critic of CM as of late, and am disappointed that no staffing change was made. He's decided to roll the dice here and stick with his original guys, and trust the team he's got this year. I hope he is right, and want them to succeed. I will be pissed when there are coaching blunders or when the lack of in-game coaching experience becomes apparent. But there is one solution to this all. And that is winning.

CM had the chance to make a change, he did not, and now this season is all on him. I feel bad for the losers who want the team to lose because they don't like him. I don't like the moves, or lack thereof he's made to this point, but I want him to win, and more importantly, I want the players to win and have fun doing so. This may be a down year for the BE, it's a perfect opportunity to capitalize on it.

Plus, in light of all the bs being spewed on this site this past off-season, I think Shamorie Ponds has been forgotten. We have a real baller on this team. He's exciting to watch, and plays hard every single minute he's on the floor, he wants to win, and I'm excited to see him excel even further. Can't wait to see him in action with the new squad, and hopefully become an even more dominant force on the floor.

I agree with most of this post. But, this is about more than just the assistant coaching situation IMO. For example, I'll admit not being an RPI/KenPom/whatever the new thing is called expert, but my 30,000 foot layman's opinion is that we really botched the schedule, and could potentially win 22 or 23 games and still not get a tourney bid. If I'm right (and again, I may not be), that would be an unbelievably bad gaffe. Then I saw someone say we messed up some paperwork and therefore couldn't hold a camp last summer with recruits? This is easy stuff that we shouldn't constantly be getting wrong. I'm excited about this year's team as the next guy, but we seem to always be finding new ways to add to our degree of difficulty and I just don't know why that is.

Great post, Chris 7. I agree and am puzzled and frustrated that CM did not address the obvious need to move Mitch out and replace him with a recruiting AC. That is our glaring weakness.
Maybe, he got a commitment from Mitch to get involved in recruiting and to ‘being there’. I doubt it, but maybe.
The main thing though is to root like all hell for this team to outperfom in 2018-18 and do serious damage in the BEC and the NCAAs.
Therein lie our best chances to get key recruits.
Let’s do it.

I know nothing about Mitch. We interviewed St. Jean a couple weeks ago and the gym was very active. Current and former players.
Cool, what were you interviewing him for?
redmen.com - of course! I'll try to post a little clip of that tonight.
Is this interview available somewhere now or is it for a later date?

It's great but you should probably skip it. He only has the highest praise for Coach Chris Mullin.

Well, as fans we are very grateful that you enjoyed it and your summary is very insightful. Then again, there is supposedly a tape of Trump getting pee peed on in Moscow. Any insight into that would be appreciated also.

BTW, my wife has the highest praise for Mully also but she is biased.

Paul was just being flippant with me. He, and a few others think I am anti-Mullin.....the coach.
I am simply anti-Mullin.......the manager.
Ironically I probably have more insight into the Mullin clan than most of the pro and anti fans but I don't need to fabricate defenses.
I've been on record as saying failure is not an option for our living legend because that legend will be forever tarnished should he fail. It is the main reason his hire was a personal risk for him. Unfortunately being obstinate has been a long trait in his management style. That said, his knowledge and love for the game is unquestionable.

ESPN released another NBA mock Draft. They moved Shamorie Ponds up 2 more spots from 29th to 27th.

All he has to do is get his three point shooting back to his freshman year and you can see him in the top 20.

Unfortunately being obstinate has been a long trait in his management style. That said, his knowledge and love for the game is unquestionable.
I luv Mullin in triplicate, and always will, which makes me distraught in spades by--as I see it--his reckless obstinacy in this case.
IF he received Mitch's pledge that friend-to-friend, Mitch would re-engage as an AC, I--and many others on this Board--would accept that.
But, absent that 'pledge', Mullin put Mitch (and his loyalty to Mitch) above the future of St. John's.
I cannot abide by that.
I'll root like crazy for St. John's next season--but, if true, this is nuts.

$20? I got $40 that says Figueroa averages 10 ppg and hope he gets 20-25 or more minutes per game . Hoping too, that Ponds gets BE Pre Season Player of year . And , in March , BE POY . . and , to really piss off the naysayers , Mullin voted BE Coach of the Year .!

Paul was just being flippant with me.
You get credit for not being completely linear! You do have some good insights. I just wish you weren't so OCD with your Mullin rants.
