a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter
What does all this have to do with Figueroa?
We digress because the Figueroa thread is useless info on a player we know very little about and even the best speculating homers find it hard to speculate about a 6'5 Juco who may or may not start depending on whether Heron is eligible said eligibility being depated ad nauseum since we have no clue what the administration is doing regarding said request but OTIS thinks we should seek competent outside counsel since Oliva and company can't keep from tripping over themselves on the way to the bank.
Hope this clarifies our obfuscation of the Figueroa thread.

Because EVERYTHING with most on here is just a prelude to bash the current staff excluding Matt of course.
The really amazing thing to me is that we should be ok this year and more than ok if Heron is eligible. And if Heron is not eligible we will be ok the following year. Usually we stink. Outside of 5 or so teams since Louie left we have been varying degrees of bad.
Why not enjoy this season and maybe the next? Seems a ST John's basketball fan would be happy that the team probably won't stink. I honestly think most on here are pissed that we wont suck because it will delay the Mullin bashing for a year or so.
If the recruiting doesn't pick up we will suck again the following season or the season after that. Mullin will be gone if that happens and you guys can start hating the next guy.
Please predict our record this year and post season success so we won't be pissed because we wont suck because it will delay the Mullin bashing for a year or so.
Then tell us what our long term (after this season) looks like if Ponds, Simon, Heron, Clark and the inevitable transfer out are not replaced by top recruits that don't have an * Asterisk next to their name like "transfer".

Despite the constant articles indicating that Heron will be ruled eligible for this year, he will be officially ruled ineligible on December 19th.
ST John's will sue but will lose because two of their star witnesses Mullin and Richmond do not show up to court. Mullin because he is in Cali and Richmond because no one knows why or where he is.
WE go 9-9 in BE and win one BET game which will give Mullin more BET wins than the previous two ST john's coaches combined.
We play in 8-9 game and lose to Temple because Ponds misses a one and one and Terrance Stansbury jr hits 25 footer at the buzzer to beat us.
So basically we return to our Glory years.

After the season Trimble transfers to Iona. Panic ensues on the boards.
Ponds gets drafted by Warriors with last pick in 1st round thus tying Mullin with previous two ST John's coaches combined in producing 1st round picks.
Since Simon aspires to get drafted he decides to stay as Mullin has as good a track record of any ST John's coach with producing 1st round picks.
All summer there is a running thread about ST John's possibly hiring IS 39's new basketball coach Mike Rice for an assistant job. This thread is the 2nd most popular thread on forum trailing only Maher's favorite food thread.
Fun will pop in from time to time creatively insult people. Some annoying guy will argue both sides of every argument all the while declaring straw man argument.

With Ponds departure the Patrick Ewing theory takes hold and Heron pulling off a Ron Artest impersonation with help from Figueroa whose thread this is BTW and Simon lead ST John's to the Sweet 16.

Immediately after we lose to Duke (because of a technical foul called on bench coach Mitch Richmond who isn't even on the bench and has in fact been missing for 2 years now) people start complaining again!
WE ARE NOSTRADAMUS

I must say, after passing through a very dark cloud, seeing some ‘light in the sky’, but still worried about the Staff if not the roster, that this is a very entertaining and humorous post that captures much of the frenetic (and dark) energy—often legitimate, if annoying—on this Board.
Thanks for that, “we are SJU”. Appreciate it.

See this thread hasn't run its course because every few pages or so you get gems like this (and the one saying that Redmennorth needed to pipe down and relax because he was ruining this site and you find out someone you remember coming on the Board in college as a freshman graduated 15 years ago and you are getting older faster than you think).

Many of us already hate the next coach and the one after that and the one after that. I could go on but by that time a lot of us will have passed on. But don't blame us we have been conditioned to feel this way by St, John's track record of hiring coaches since Lou. :p

Not true. I do not hate the next coach and am more than willing to give him a few hours to turn this thing around.

I love Louie but let's be honest here, the only reason Lou was successful in the Big East conference was he did all his learning about coaching from John Kress who was a genius X&O coach. Kind of like how Mully is learning from GSJ.:p
Seriously though I believe John would have won a national champsionship had he succeeded Carnesecca. Unfortunately, John's successor would have been Norm Roberts.

Let's get back on topic here brothers!
1. Where is Mitch Richmond?
2. Mike Rice should be hired by this weekend because the Maven says he isn't.

I don't think the Johnnies Pride account on Twitta was particularly pleased with the news that Waldo is returning, currently unleashing a tirade LOL.

I've posted before that Mitch has a lot to offer. His NBA stats are really impressive, but for you younger guys they don't even tell the full story of what a great player he was. And his interviews out here on Bay Area sports radio are always good. He should be able to be a good recruiter, and he certainly should be able to help run a practice effectively. We just need him to commit to the job.

We need two good-to-great players for next season to keep the quality of play and excitement we'll have this season going. Mitch and Chris need to help get them.

I am old enough to know Mitch Richmond the player. He was a model player when it comes to fundamentals and had great instincts.

But if he is consuming an assistant coach position and is essentially working part-time,none of this matters.

Great post LJSA, that I won't spoil with my drivel.
Mitch has phenomenal presence and gravitas. He and Mullin would awe most top recruits.
If they’re involved, we would get what we need for 2019-20 and beyond.
