a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter

No offense to anyone but personally I dont want to hear about any potential coach down the road who has never coached before. been there done that with Norm and hopefully Mullin wins now so I dont have to think about it ever again

get a medium for Mike Zaun while you're at it.B)

My knowledge of current SJU basketball is pretty much limited to what I read on this site. I think things could be improved if the school would hire an experienced and successful athletic director and give him authority over ALL coaches. The second order of business would be to thank Mitch for his efforts and wish him success in his future endeavors.

I no longer fault MR for his absence from the recruiting circuit, I fault the head coach. He wanted the job, now do the job.

On a need to know basis, I didn't need to know that.:S

I read all this negative stuff and its depressing. It looks like we might be a powerhouse this year, yet you wouldn't know it reading this board....im hoping all you guys are wrong....go st johns!

It's not about this year at all.

Yes, it absolutely is about this year. We haven't had a good year since Lavin's first year as coach almost 10 years ago. We look like we have an excellent chance to have one this year. Let's enjoy it for God's sake. If it doesn't turn out to be a good year, then the staff has to answer for it. If it does, the city will get energized, and just maybe, we can build on it. Hope springs eternal. Let's go Johnnies!

Agree 1000% nearly everyone here has said they are excited about this roster and season and the loudest are still running Mullin out of town if this season doesn't result in an ncaa bid.

Fans? Of what?

Mullin has elected to utilize the "transfer model" to acquire players which may or may not prove successful. The plain fact of the matter is there is a helluva lot more talent on the St. John's roster now versus 2015 when he was hired, and "no" he has not resorted to getting forged transcripts in a parking lot as an assistant of a prior St. John's failed coach reportedly did.

If Mullin's transfer strategy doesn't prove successful then he will move on and St. John's will hire his successor. That being said any coach deserves 4 seasons to be judged and for that reason this season will be telling for Mullin.

ps. I was told 6+/- weeks ago by a source that would have first hand knowledge that the decision not to hire Rice had been made months ago by the St. John's Administration; not Mullin.

A. It all comes down to this year.
B. Fake news about Mike Rice. As a mod you could have provided this info a month and a half ago rather than have Paultzman, NY Sports scribes and fellow fans spin their wheels here. Then again, as I said. ...FAKE NEWS!

This is nonsense.

Almost everyone to a person has agreed this year could set up to be good.

However they have not played a game yet so there is nothing to enjoy.

Furthermore there are no commitments for 2019 or beyond and Richmond has been completely MIA on recruiting this spring and summer. Those are legitimate discussions.
