a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter

No idea what that means

Hard to be believe that all of this is true:

1. Chris won’t ask MR to leave his post or change his job to enable a hire.

2. RM needs the job or wants it so badly that she won’t leave it or change to open a spot.

3. The university president won’t step in and force a resolution of the situation knowing the fiscal
And pr issues.

All those things have

So you gave it three hours to play out?
Someone said this on the other page...I'd disagree. Don't they get paid $200k at the lower end up to $500k or so at the high end?
You are talking about the small minority of coaches. It's hard as heck to crap into those upper-echelon assistant gigs.

For example, here is an article about the salaries at Missouri State stating $40-90k. That isn't much for guys working the hours they do. That is actually a decent mid-major.

This may be news to some here but our crappy program has been paying assistants in the range of top 25 programs since mullin's arrival. Slice's salary has been reported in the range of $500-600K. Mitch is speculated to be in the $250k range. If we are paying two guys who are invisible to fans and recruits upwards of $800K as assistants then your argument gets thrown out of the window. In fact, we are compensating Mitch and Slice close to the annual salary of David Padgett who is the head coach of Louisville.
The entire Slice drama is about money and headcount and trying to get around the clusterfck that Mullin has created.
One of the trustees is livid over this conundrum.

https://www.boydsbets.com/highest-paid-coaches-college-basketball/
Well David Padgett was an interim coach and no longer there and Chris Mack is making a lot more than that at Louisville but generally I think we all get your point.

Yeah, we're not talking about Mizzou St, we're talking about STJ who as others have stated are paying top salaries to their assistants and have been over the past two coaches, Slice was paid a ridiculous amount but the rest are doing just fine too.

But if it's hard as heck to crap into one of these upper echelon paying jobs how did MR do it with no experience, no evidence of the requisite skill set and no evidence of the inclination to put in the effort put in by similarly employed and compensated coaches. And once he crapped in how has he kept the job when there appears to be ample evidence that none of these factors has been addressed or modified? That's a rhetorical question.

This thread is borderline insane right now. For one who hasn't checked in recently it reads like this....( at least to me)
* Mike Rice is coming !
* Mike Rice is coming and bringing Scottie Lewia and Aidan!
* What in the world is this hold up on why it's taking so long ?
* Mike Rice might not be coming!
* Mullin won't get rid of Mitch
* If he does we need a black assistant
* Mullin knows he is leaving so he doesn't care about pushing administration for Rice.

Am I missing something in the equation when I say that everyone is pushing for Mike Rice to join the staff when there is no job opening to be had? Can we fantasize about someone better if we are nominating candidates for a fictitious job?

Well actually if Cal came over as Mullin's top assistant maybe he can bring Kenny Payne with him. Kill 2 birds

I don't think Mullin will be coaching here on his 60th birthday, but thinking he's planning to exit after this season is a bit much . . . unless of course he wins the national championship and wants to go out on top. He hates losing and we haven't won enough for him to even think about leaving.

I have been regurgitating the same message on previous threads: this issue is about HEADCOUNT & $$$.
The point fans are making and demanding is that Mitch Richmond needs to be either a full time and totally involved assistant or he and or Mullin need to create a vacancy to accommodate a change.
Sorry Happy but this fantasy was not created by fans but by Mullin himself. If you were following in the past few weeks even a couple of scribes chimed in on the process.
Finally, part of the issue is that there is no one on campus right now minding the store.

As Doris Day predicted about the St. John's basketball program:
Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be"

I was hoping if he were successful, he would be a long term coach. The more I read this board, the less I think that'll be the case no matter what happens over the next few years.

One of the advantages of hiring a person like Mullin is you don't need to worry about him leaving for another college job. That said, if he does have a great 5 years and then passes off to an AC, I'd be fine with that. One year at a time. Nothing is set in stone.
Maybe Mullin doesn't care about this because he's resigning after next season regardless of if we make the tourney or not? Honestly that's as good a theory as any other at this point. To be clear, just a theory.
Yet another reason not to use my season tickets.

And a letter of recommendation with a risk assessment. Moose convinced me to lie. Ok, no more screwing up this “crisp, unrepetitive” thread I regretfully started. :)
