a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter

Is the Rice deal dead?
Never was a deal.
Look on the bright side.
Mitch Richmond is back.
The 'Empty Chair' Mitch or a re-engaged Mitch, 'the HOFer sitting on an occasional top recruit's couch'? I know the answer.
I'm exhausted and frustrated.
This is 'Big Brother' at St. John's.
'History' is being rewritten.
Outrageous.

I don't think Mitch will be back in his former role. If he is it will not bode well for Mullin.

Then...a dish of rice for the 'deal that never was' on our rewritten thread...?
Color me confused.

What makes you say he's back? And that's also sarcasm right?

I'm starting to resent and despise this program and coach.

We were very active during the most recent live period. The staff is apparently taking some time off in between that period and the start of the Fall semester. I would imagine this is a common time for D-I Basketball coaches to take some time

Of course, I think we all want to see a super hungry staff that demonstrates urgency and unrelenting attention to the rebuild. I think Mullin is engaged, but he's not going to pound the pavement or go the extra mile to hustle in the recruiting game. He more likely wants to know from Matt when it's time to close.

In regards to immediately improving the prospects of this season, hiring Mike Rice represents low hanging fruit. It's essentially a "no brainer". But Mullin will decide and one thing we are learning is he really doesn't care if it's driving the fan base bonkers.

Not winning is driving the fan base bonkers, so is the in game coaching, or lack thereof. Rice is secondary. CM hasn't made any real changes in staff since he's been here (sans Slice). MR contributes nothing. HOF allure is not there as I'd bet 99% of today's HS recruits have no idea who he is, or care to know.

this thread is going to be as long as the other one lol.
Is it true that Paultzman has voluntarily demoted himself to the Rookie Forum?:p  :cheer:
If we dont make the the NCAA tourney this year pretty much 95% of this board will be posting in the rookie forum because we will all be demoted for breaking forum rules.

Heck Paul might end up demoting himself too and its his website :)

I don't think the posters on the rookie forum would want the 95% to be demoted. Would definitely lower the basketball IQ of that part of the site exponentially.

Rather than updating his avatar this time, Paultz should just update the thread title. "Some Chatter", etc.

Or a picture of something "dead in the water". That's what I've been waiting to see...sounds like Rice was never seriously considered to begin with and the meetings were a mere formality on Mullin's part but still plans on bringing our golden boy Mitch back.

But this Board is so good at it.

Waiting over a year for the resolution of the hiring an assistant coach or not, how much patience do you expect. I for one have long ago stopped being concerned about this matter.

I think being concerned is appropriate, given how critical it is for the Staff to be ‘right-sized’ to be able to compete with other BEC and High Major competitors.
The fact we’ve been short-handed in in-game strategy and recruiting for over a year is unbelievable.
Total kudos to MattA for his indefatigable pursuit of the transfer market—but I doubt total continued reliance on that option alone is sustainable.
It’s not good when an ‘option’ becomes a ‘necessity’.
At this point, I’m hopeful and very patient, because I expect nothing to transpire via top HS recruits.
That’s all we can be: hopeful. That’s our ‘reality’, it’s not an ‘option’.
We seem to continue to be outmaneuvered for HS recruits.

Rice isn't coming, he can't
They need Mike Rice to come in and the savier?
Yeah that would do wonders for Mullin's Ego.
If Rice came came and SJU got to the sweet16 and was a top25 team, some on here would say: "Rice should take over for Mullin, they sucked until he came this year.

Mullin shouldn't worry about that and get the help that he needs.
Because if he refuses Rice and they suck again, 95% on this board (you'll always have the 5% ass kissers that will say, Mullin never does anything wrong. Yeah I said its.) will be SO RELENTLESS against Mullin.
Bottom line with or with Rice, Mullin better get to the NCAA, and no excuses about oh, there are 6 new guys on the team. STOP MAKING BS EXCUSES AND GET RESULTS.
How about we try that for a freaking change, because excuses are for losers.
The fact we’ve been short-handed in in-game strategy
Can you cite some of the in game strategies that we've been short-handed in? I'm always eager to learn more about basketball.

I have said repeatedly I prefer he reach out to Kevin Ollie. I am not sure Ollie would say yes but he would be a great staff addition.

But I would settle for Rice....

Last year, after the Villanova loss at MSG, some on the boards (and in the stands) vilified Mullin for allowing Clark to take a wide open three late in the game (which he missed), when we were down about 6 points. Dumbest piece of criticism that I've ever heard.
