2nd DePaul Game

The block of the attempted dunk by Dom and outlet by Jordan to D'Lo for the flush was a thing of beauty.

The curse of Carnessecca continued for rysheed, although he wasn't that bad tonight.

Great win with no obekpa.

On to the X

Yes he was. Greene is the unsung hero tonight

Yeah, Sheed only had 15 pts, 7 rbds, 4 asst, 3 stls, 1 blk...he was terrible. Not his best game, but c'mon. He was an important part of this win. The team played well, and if not for the phantom technical in the 2nd half (I can't comment in the first one, since CBS couldn't figure out how to show it to us), this one would have been over much earlier.

He shot 2-9 and made a couple of awful decisions down the stretch. Sorry I think he stunk tonight. Now the Creighton game he was tremendous. That's the Jordan I want to see not the Mr Hyde we got tonight

What about the rest of the game? Did he stink when he went to the line and shot 10-14? Or grabbed 7 rebounds? I agree on a couple of poor decisions, but look at the full body of work. Not his best game, but certainly not a bad one.

Goes without saying that we need obekpa back for Xavier or they will slaughter us inside.

No doubt about it. Once Stanbrook gets the ball in low it's a layup. And Reynolds will have a ball. Should Obekpa miss Saturday's game then Amar has to guard Stanbrook and Sir Dom on Reynolds. If Chris returns then he can't allow Stanbrook to position in low, especially on his left. I have to figure Lavin wanted an extra few days before bringing Obekpa back. He knows he needs Chris against Xavier.

Obekpa was visibly limping and Lavin had no choice but to sit him from appearances. I have no clue what the T on Harrison was for.....anyone? The Big Four came to play, minus Felix who was used mostly as a decoy and for defense. Amar was over emotional and was parked on the bench for most of the latter 2nd half. Just a young frosh. Beware of what some of the Obekpa detractors wanted after his flagrant-we escaped DePaul but don't put any money on SJ if he misses any more games from here out. The coming games are where it would have been nice to have Adonis Kardashian. Kid has the biggest ass of any player in redmen history. Takes up incredible space in team huddles.

Another lead gone from awful officiating.

Or maybe we shouldn't do stupid stuff. I'm not saying the technical was deserved, but you can't even let that type of thing become a possibility.

So if you don't do anything, it is still your fault?

The refs were absolutely horrendous and did all they could to take the game away from us. Why were they even reviewing the Dom foul on the Depaul steal? They were looking for a flagrant when there was nothing but a simple foul.

Had 3 bad plays from what I recall but think of what we would have if Branch was still taking his minutes. My guess would be a loss tonight.

Back in the day freshman did not play Varsity. They had own team.

That's right. Guys like Seiden and Alfieri played three years on the varsity.

Assume Zawoluk as well? If so it's pretty amazing since he's #5 with 1800 points or something. That would put him at Mullin numbers if he played 4 years.

D'lo couldn't have been better. He didn't force a shot, buried everything, rebounded, and played smart with 4 fouls for 7 or 8 mins. First team All BE performance.

And someone get those 3 dicks doing their sideline routine on the depaul bench and give them shovels and let them dig their way back to chicago

Just got home. Met with OLV72, Ralph and Joe J. before the game. All great guys, but I've known Joe for years.

I hope someone has a photo of Harrison high fiving Bobby G. after a big second half bucket. To my knowledge that is a first in SJU history - a star player high fiving the school president after a bucket.

I like Branch playing 7-10 minutes a game. I like his steady play and defense. Obviously, if he's aggressive and shooting like he did at Creighton, then he would warrant more time.

The refs absolutely stunk. Both T's called on Johnnies were of the rabbit ears variety.

Wished I had taped the game because that call was bogus! All I saw was a DePaul player losing his balance and did not see any contact warranting play stoppage. The T on Harrison seemed to be for something nobody saw but the Ref obviously did not like some comment but could have just as easily warned the our player since he was fouled on the play.

I swear that Harrison T I had thoughts immediately of that T on Billy Singleton against Duke in the tourney

Branch is this teams Tariq Turner. Can't guard anyone one on one.
