2nd Creighton Game

re size of crowd: I'm at halfcourt in a low row in the 100's. It's nice having an empty seat on either side of me. Keep staying home guys. I miss the noise, but it's nice to have such a great view of the court and have plenty of elbow room.

Attendance: 10,759

paid attendance. appeared to be less. Thanks.

Still a lot more people than I expected. Not much worse than Providence and way better then the non season ticket holder game against Gonzaga.

Wow that's a lot higher than I expected for a team like Creighton.
SJU fans came out to see the best player in the country, Doug McDermott. ;)

Just back, nice win keep it rolling. Jordan was unconscious from deep. Any news on Big Chris's ankle?

@NYPost_Brazille: Greg McDermott on Rysheed Jordan: "He was without a doubt the best player on the floor today." #sjubb

Have to disagree with the coach; Jordan had a VERY strong shooting game but Pointer was the best player on the floor.

Just got back.Fun game wasnt in the mood for nail biter.Dom was a beast in the 2nd half on D. Oh man that was so fun to watch

He needs to keep the fluffy hair look. Makes him look taller and it distracts the other team and I think the bounciness of the hair somehow made him shoot better

Re: Harrison's injury. Watching him closely, he is still hurt. He barely jumps for rebounds, but it really doesn't affect his outside shot much. He can still take it to the hoop, but not with the same authority. Still hands down better than what would replace him on bench.

Re: Jordan: I've maintained he isn't a horrible outside shooter, as some here have contended. In the first half alone he nailed five threes, and showed as much fire on the court as I've seen, especially coming off the court when one of his bombs necessitated a time out.

Re: Teamwork. This team never ever ever looks to feed the hot hand. In some ways it's good, because in the first half, a few guys were making their shots, and honestly when Jordan wants to shoot the ball passed to him doesn't come back often. But still, when you are unconscious, your teammates have to look for you. Today even with 19 first half points, the didn't.

Re: Balamou. Amar was the obvious starter, especially against taller nonathletic big men. Obviously things worked out, but did we really want 4.5 guards out there most of the time?

Re; Pointer. Ben Wallace must be jealous or smiling.

Felix thing was a reward / punishment thing with him and Obekpa. They won so you will see that for at least one more game depending on Obekpa injury and how we do against Depaul

As anyone who reads this board with regularity knows I will criticize Lavin for just about everything but the weather and I am trying to figure an angle out for that but I fail to see how you can criticize him for starting Balamou with the start we got off to.

Well, that was a good, solid pasting. Harrison looked much better. Best part was Pointer's hair, though. I actually found myself wondering if it was legal, it must add 3-4 inches to his height!

Seriously. Balamou didn't play that great himself, but having him out there added to a squad that simply overwhelmed Creighton athletically. When you have Jordan-Pointer-Balamou on the court at the same time, there isn't a more athletic trio in the nation. Greene is no slouch himself, and Harrison has the hustle and skill to play faster than his physical talent.

Good win.

Really liking what I see from Amar. Can be a good cog for 4 years. Kid has upside.

You know McDermott would be licking his chops over a player like Amar. This kid will be fun to watch for four years. His D is brutal right now, but man could we use this kid becoming a solid 8-10 minute guy over the next month+.

I hope the six threes don't convince Jordan he is a jump shooter. I have no problem with him shooting set shots--especially inside-out looks, but I think he really hurts us when he forces treys. He took mostly good shots tonight, but he did make a few that he should't have taken on a day he wasn't so hot.

Get the next low hanging fruit against Depaul. I'm starting to think these guys will sweep Xavier. One game at a time.

BS from Lavin. How does talking to the media for 20 minutes after a game hinder his ability to focus on academics? Letting him prance around on social media for a while probably hurt his focus more than talking to the media would

Yeah a win over Creighton translates into a sweep of a tough Xavier team. Waiting for your first get real post in oh about 5 years.
