2nd Creighton Game

We aren't likely to dominate too many Big East teams again this year.
But our guys should know, as this evidences, that when they play poised "team" ball, they can win against anyone in the league.

Let's not get carried away. Creighton is the worst team in the league. IF you can say this when we beat Georgetown, Xavier, or Villanova on their home court, I'll be right with you.

Nice win. Good job all around, except refs.

I must ask what did the refs do wrong?

They showed up.

So in other words you have no good examples of what they did wrong, so you are just bitching for no reason?

Just enjoy the win Jack. A lot of positives;

Dee looks better physically.
Jordan played a solid under control game.
Dom negated their size a lot in face of no Obekpa
Amar showed something & will be solid down the road.
Phil hit his shots.
Felix contributed.
Lavin had them ready and spread minutes well.

Beat DePaul!

I will say this. CO's shot was vicious, public, and intentional. But when three of our players go down, and come up a minute later holding their hands to their heads from an "inadvertent" elbow, something is up. Either they are just awkward farmboys with pointy elbows, or are well nuanced in covert high elbows to the face. I'll believe the latter.

They looked like the Artest Elite 8 team today. Fun to watch! Team is almost predictable in its unpredictability. I expect them to turn around and lose to DePaul now. Hope they stay unpredictable.

Gotta assume you're right Beast but IO almost felt like I was still watching EPL as guys kept falling and wouldn't get up. Saw a lot of that out of Chelsea at the end today as well.

Again, nice win but frustrating how we blew them out after losing in a nail biter we should have won. End of the day we're 1-1 against the worst BE team when we should be 2-0.

Generally people will say "that's sports it goes both ways", but for SJU that isn't true. We've only won ONE close game this year (Marquette). Meanwhile, out of our 8 losses 5 were by single digits.

We are better than our record, JUST LIKE LAST YEAR! Last year our BPI and Kenpom were significantly higher than our RPI and good enough to get into the tournament. We just lost more close games than we won.

Last year, the law of averages didn't pan out. We finished losing more close games than we won. If it evens out this year, we'll definitely make the tournament. If they play like they did today, they should make the tournament.

So, the optimist would say we're better than our record and that will pan out. The pessimist will say we're not clutch, maybe even unlucky. Guess we'll find out soon.

re size of crowd: I'm at halfcourt in a low row in the 100's. It's nice having an empty seat on either side of me. Keep staying home guys. I miss the noise, but it's nice to have such a great view of the court and have plenty of elbow room.

Re: Harrison's injury. Watching him closely, he is still hurt. He barely jumps for rebounds, but it really doesn't affect his outside shot much. He can still take it to the hoop, but not with the same authority. Still hands down better than what would replace him on bench.

Re: Jordan: I've maintained he isn't a horrible outside shooter, as some here have contended. In the first half alone he nailed five threes, and showed as much fire on the court as I've seen, especially coming off the court when one of his bombs necessitated a time out.

Re: Teamwork. This team never ever ever looks to feed the hot hand. In some ways it's good, because in the first half, a few guys were making their shots, and honestly when Jordan wants to shoot the ball passed to him doesn't come back often. But still, when you are unconscious, your teammates have to look for you. Today even with 19 first half points, the didn't.

Re: Balamou. Amar was the obvious starter, especially against taller nonathletic big men. Obviously things worked out, but did we really want 4.5 guards out there most of the time?

Re; Pointer. Ben Wallace must be jealous or smiling.

I'm just going to go the proverbially one game at a time route & see what happens.

Please don't sink to the cretin level around here with even mild profanity. You're like our young jedi, but you will get detention for bad language. :) I don't like bad language from our friend Miguel or whatever his name is, and even less on you

Felix thing was a reward / punishment thing with him and Obekpa. They won so you will see that for at least one more game depending on Obekpa injury and how we do against Depaul

Nice win today, but I don't think we won 2 consecutive wins in the BE this year. Take the win and on to Wednesday when DePaul comes in, lets get a winning streak before getting to excited.

Natural inclination is to jump for joy after a win like this. I think we still need to win 5 of the next 6 to really get back into great shape. Hopefully this is the beginning

That's the right attitude. I'm just tired of them making a run and then my heart being ripped out haha. Past 3 years we've been a bubble team until the end when something pops our bubble. This season is so big in many ways that it increases the pressure.

I'm, to a lesser extent, an NC State fan and they really mirror SJU. Only difference is they somehow make the tournament each year, usually with big wins during the ACC tournament.

SJU does just enough to keep us hooked. Win a game, lose a game, repeat.

Win against DePaul, start a streak, and I think they'll be in business.

Wow that's a lot higher than I expected for a team like Creighton.
