21-22 Starting Lineup / Playing Time

Going through life in a body built for football (O-line) I think at least some of our success the coming year will derive from Stanley or Nyiwe coming off the bench and being able to go through or over defenders for rebounds and putbacks, not to mention spacing the floor for our scorers.
Geez Fuchsia, if I knew that you are built like an offensive lineman, I wouldn't have been such a wise ass to you.

I'm with Making Plays on this Champ 4 versus 3 issue. Think it's been a bit overblown. Many college teams play 3 guard lineups and seems like that has always been CMA's preference. Champ last year was forced to often play post defense and that doesn't allow him to show he can guard wings at the pro level. That shouldn't happen at aIl this year. However, I do think there will be lots of times where he will be on the floor with one of Soriano, Wheeler or Stanley and three of Posh, Smith, Coburn, Mathis, Wusu or Pinzon. In those lineups he might technically be considered the 4, but doubt he will have a problem with it.
It's going to be interesting to see what direction CMA goes in. I think starters will either be...

Posh, Mathis, Champ, Wheeler, Soriano
or
Posh, Mathis, Coburn, Champ, Soriano

I know the big thing for Julian coming back was the ability to show he could play the SF spot in the league and not be in the post as much as he was last year.  I still think even if he starts at the 4, CMA will accommodate him and use him accordingly.  When I think of Julian's situation this year, I think of Demarre Carrol's senior year situation, he started at the 4 spot for Mizzou, but had a lot of ball handling responsibilities, frequently brought the ball up court and started the offense, he had freedom to play on the perimeter and post as needed in the offense, and CMA pretty much let him switch everything on the defensive end, and Carroll ended up being a 1st round pick with a 10 year NBA career as a SF.

Posh, Champ and a bunch of role players no one has seen play very much.  Lots of question marks, but coach will have them playing good D and by February he will have them playing really good ball.

In every interview coach makes mention of how the guys he brought in have won before. Improving Culture was as much of an issue as improving production it seemed.

I think we are wholeheartedly more talented with the guys coming in than the guys leaving.  Williams had talent but was always injured and never at 100%.  The only guy who’s abilities I want to see matched are Moore’s but we have like 4 guys in his stead and I think we will get more than enough.  Earlington was a nice shooter but we needed a kid who rebounded and  played great defense .  He liked to stand on the perimeter too much.  I honestly think that we have night and day more talent here now at almost all spots, and it’s not close.

Not sure if we'll see it, but I'm hoping for a Posh/Pinzon/Champagnie/Soriano/Stanley lineup at some point.

Like  Pinzon a lot and see him getting good mins but think one of the transfers like smith  start ahead of him

Hoping for a Posh/Smith/Pinzon/Champagnie/Soriano starting lineup by the start of our conference schedule.

Long time no see guys.

Hearing from my guys that the coaches absolutely love Pinzon.. scouts do as well.

Dont be surprised to see him starting by Kansas game.

His moxie and ability to not get rattled have been a pleasant surprise. He has the DPOY in Posh and Mathis who is a dawg, and they can’t do it.

Gonna need that, especially with an all new team.

Yeah he’s gonna be a stud.  Can see glimpses already.  He can facilitate with the pass but also drive and shoot.  Really plays like that point forward type and really smooth with ball in his hands.  If he gets time over some others it’s because he has the talent to do so.

Absolutely love Stef Smith, is a sniper

IMO I would love to see a Posh, Smith, Champagnie, Stanley, and Soriano lineup at some point.

although I know Wheeler and Mathis will probably get the start. We just have so many pieces.

Can still remember how tough Smith was at Carnesecca when Vermont beat us...also think Wusu is the real deal...ask Posh...Stanley also  interesting in that he accepts post responsibilities which will fill the middle and give more penetration opportunities...we have plenty of wings...think Soriano might also help to keep defenses honest with post play...need those cheap baskets...
