2025 BIG EAST TOURNAMENT

We might not be able to shoot, but we can score.

Plus these kids won't be caught looking ahead, so is it really having to win six games in a row? Or are they winning one game in a row six times?
I am ok if we only win four in a row

Curious to know how our 3 highest impact transfers performed last year in their tournaments. They all made the NIT last year with Seton Hall winning it all.

Kadary - 13.6 Pts (21 in championship)/8.6 rebs/6.8 assists (1 Big East tournament game how we all remember how that went and 5 NIT games)

Scott - 7.8/4.3/2.5 (American games and 2 NIT games with a loss to Seton Hall in Round of 16)

Deivon - 15.8 (28 in final game including 6-6 from 3)/8.3/8.7 (2 PAC12 and 4 NIT with a loss in Final Four & had two triple doubles in NIT and almost averaged a triple double in it as well)

I think we are going to get great contributions from them during this upcoming run!

Brand should have come to St Johns with the rest of that Riverside Hawks team, but last minute switch to Duke IIRC
There was no last minute switch. We were in the running as he seriously considered playing hoops with his fellow Riverside running mates but Duke was always the front runner.

Why was Duke the front runner? And I’m not being naive.

I can’t take dumb takes. Watching the “Field of 68” podcast. While they gave St. John’s plenty of complements, they also have the Yukon fool who just can’t believe they win playing like they do.

Then, Jeff Goodman stated “St. John’s can’t win 6 games in a row in the Tournament because of the way they shoot the ball”. We might not win 6 games in a row but this team already has a 10 game win streak and is currently on a 6 game streak after losing to Villanova. So, yeah defense travels and you can win games because of it. The team has also done just enough shooting wise to get Wins.
Certainly that can happen to ANY team, that’s what makes tournaments so exciting, you just accentuate the “any given day”.
But what experts miss about SJU, and why they are not “experts” at all because all they can do is barf out stats, is that the Johnnie’s don’t shoot well, but they can score, big difference. Only one stat matters.
So experts can say whatever they want, my suggestion, that are like watching cartoons back in the day, entertaining but silly.

Goodman is two-faced and never been a friend.

What these experts don’t get is that our team can win cause defense doesn’t slump. A team that wins with defense in my mind is better conditioned to win in a tourney format. A team that relies on shooting can tire out or have an off night and one off night can end their season. Teams that have not faced us yet will have a tough time with our pressure and athleticism. There are only truly a handful of teams that I can see us having a tough time beating Duke, Alabama, Auburn, Florida and maybe Tennessee.

Agreed on 3 pt shooting, but our horrendous FT shooting is this team's Achilles Heel.

It has not bitten us in the ass in quite some time, but it's always there ready to chomp down.

It's not like the Big East is the CAA. This is a tough tournament...from game one on.
Except for perhaps DePaul, anyone in the Big East can win a one-off game. Now, since we are at the Garden, I'd probably add Seton Hall and Georgetown to that list, but that's the extent of it.

Having said that we are an elite team, and not playing team in the upper echelon, on their home court, I'd take our chances against any team in the BE.

So I heard on Twitter Spaces last night (run by Ryan Patrick, Esq., with Paul Snyder (Montauk reporter)) that it is a fallacy that it is incredibly tough to beat another team 3 X. It happens more than 70% of the times!!
