2025 BIG EAST TOURNAMENT

….So I heard on Twitter Spaces last night (run by Ryan Patrick, Esq., with Paul Snyder (Montauk reporter)) that it is a fallacy that it is incredibly tough to beat another team 3 X. It happens more than 70% of the times!!
lol- so I made that comment last night… and I was just referencing more knowledgeable poster Weathemannyc lol… think I prefaced it with “don’t quote me”- or “blame weathermannyc if I’m wrong” hah

We all hope that Smith is back playing Thursday if possible but , absolutely for Friday and Saturday .

If he’s not , KR brings the Ball up and runs the offense ., Wilcher being the SG . We have won multiple games , without Smith and can do it again .

Smith gives us a different look due to his Speed but , obviously hasn’t played as well as he did before the injury . He wasn’t terrific against Seton Hall . Clearly not at his best .

I would still start Wilcher and have Smith off the Bench .

Except for perhaps DePaul, anyone in the Big East can win a one-off game. Now, since we are at the Garden, I'd probably add Seton Hall and Georgetown to that list, but that's the extent of it.

Having said that we are an elite team, and not playing team in the upper echelon, on their home court, I'd take our chances against any team in the BE.

I remember we beat Villanova three times the year they won the national championship.

In my opinion, for this team to reach its full potential in the postseason, we need a healthy Deivon Smith. Hopefully, this is all Pitino speak and he’s good to go Thursday. He will have had a week and half off. He played in the Seton Hall game and seemed ok. If he can’t play in the BET then I wouldn’t count on him for the NCAA Tournament. Like I said, he played in the Seton Hall game and was ok, plus he’s had like 11 days off. If he can’t come back Thursday then it’s a real problem. I mean his arm wasn’t hanging off of him in 2nd Seton Hall game the way it was in the first Seton Hall game.

Absolutely we need Deivon to make any kind of run. He brings us a different dimension on both sides of the ball. Speed kills and he’s got it.
Pretty sure he’ll play Friday if not Thursday.

I'm not sure about more knowledgeable. I'm just saying that I think it holds if there is no underlying reason why one team beat the other twice. If one team is a lot better, or has a significant advantage in something really difficult to overcome then its not hard at all. But, if teams are evenly matched and played two close games then IMHO there likely is a slight advantage to the team that lost both due to adjustments being made and motivation.

I'm not really worried about PC or Butler, we'll need him Friday through.

He did not play well enough against Seton Hall. When he is healthy he can impact a games outcome tremendously! The change in speed of both our offensive and defensive attacks when he relieves Kadary paralyzes our opponents. They react very poorly allowing us to create many turnovers and points off turnovers. That did not happen last 2 games.

Ya… the direction Providence has been going… feel like we’ll be playing Butler Thursday… it will be a solid test… 10+ pt win

How could a historic season full of gritty wins where a team shows toughness and the will to win over and over…end any other way but an overtime buzzer beater? Saturday’s win over #20 Marquette was just fitting! We recap and talk about the momentum heading into March Madness PLUS we preview and predict the Big East Tournament and who will be cutting down the nets!
