2024-25 Season

Overall I agree with Carmine, and will strip out the resell angle. People bought tickets to this game straight from SJU with the understanding it would be played in Queens. Now it has been moved to Manhattan, three weeks before the game.

To me, that’s pretty icky. I know some prefer MSG (at this point in my life I don’t care either way) but I absolutely know people who prefer CA for various reasons.

If they want to play all games at MSG that’s fine. But making a major geographical venue change three weeks away from a game is something I cannot remember any NY team ever doing in my lifetime.

The term “bait and switch” feels very appropriate.
There is a demand for the game bigger then Carnesecca arena. I agree it is a pain for people. And getting around NYC can be tough.
I look at it as a good thing after so many years of irrelevancy. The program has momentum and is going in a direction that is favorable for us fans.
I’m an enjoying it.

Usually a bait and switch is when you get something worse. MSG is better so I call it a free upgrade
Better for who? The arenas are not adjacent. When my son was still playing he often had games the same day as an SJU game. For me it’s a three hour commitment for a CA game - five for MSG. In that example I buy for CA thinking rhe family can do both - now I can’t go.

That’s bait and switch period.

If they wanted to play it at MSG that’s fine it should have been scheduled there.

I’m not outraged so will quit now on this but I don’t see how it’s the tight thing to do and folks saying “I like MSG better” is not going to sway me.

I wonder how many chiropractor appointments are being cancelled as we speak. I will use my extra money on a few more 20 dollar
beers at the garden

Two things can be right at the same time: moving the game to MSG is good for the program, a great sign for the program, but maybe not the best thing to do ethically.

I, for one, am pumped this is likely going to MSG. I think the Norm years drained out of me any sense of caring about the program being nice anymore.

This is tough, but the university is in a unique position (for them at least). Originally scheduling this game at CA was logical because Seton Hall was going to be in the bottom third of the conference and would have a minimal draw.

But a funny thing happened on the way to CA; the team is in a position now to draw a profitable attendance figure at the Garden against all teams and without the help of opposing fans.

The “big time” we were clamoring for has finally arrived. This is the cost of SJU becoming a player in the entertainment market.

The university cannot let a financial opportunity go, which makes choices unheard of in the past, now a reality.

No, the circumstance is not succes. The circumstance is screw the consumer.
...I highly doubt the Powers that be sat around a table and stated the latter...lol

If we weren't having the season we are having... we would all be feeling back and knee pains on March 1...

To state that the move to MSG is not due to our Season success and thus, an opportunity to make more money... is just silly

Brewing? That settles it. We are being tossed into a blender with a concoction of offense-only analytics and will be a bubble team come March.

Power that be 1 - "Hey, we're 12 and 1. Our season is a success. Let's move the Seton Hall game on the first to Msg. We'll sell more tickets and make more money."

Power that be 2 - "How can we do that? The game is less than 3 weeks away and our fans bought tickets with the expectation of a Queens game. Plus, this particular game has a higher demand than any Alumni Hall game in our history. People are paying $400 a ticket."

Power that be 1 - "Screw the consumer."

Rick - "Powers that Be... we are gonna have a Top 5 Team in the Country when we host Seton Hall... don't you feel Kadary, Scott, Dev deserve their Senior night on the biggest Stage - in front of the Most Fans possible - at the MECCA - MSG! this is why you hired me!!!"

Powers that be -"great point Rick- we'll work on it"

99% of Fans - " Thank you Rick"

Carmine - "... BUT what about the scalpers!!!"
