2024-25 Season

Honestly if St. John's is still ranked top 15 by then I think this could be a sellout, or close to it. The excitement surrounding our program keep growing.

Hall support has been terrible this year, but they were amped up for our game. In a way it's their Super Bowl, we're their closest BE rival and they're angry about Richmond. They'd love to ruin our day. I'm not saying a LOT of them would show up, but I think they'd bring more fans than Marquette brought. PC was basically already eliminated from NCAAT contention when we played them but they were very well-represented, it's all about proximity.

Also, for St. John's fans, I get this isn't as exciting as the upcoming ranked Creighton or UConn games, but personally I'd LOVE to see us smackdown Hall at MSG.

I had no interest in going when it was at Carnesseca, now I’m definitely going

Agreed SJU fans are showing up but lets not kid ourselves PC fans as well as other schools help fill the building.

SHU will not be helping much...lol..but if 17K SJU fans show out yeah...
Hall fans don't really travel much to MSG in my experience. Even when the Hall is decent to good. No idea if any of their fans will help and as you point out, certain opposing fan bases absolutely give an extra "boost" to attendance. Unlike Providence, whose alums it seems book their annual MSG gathering once the schedule comes out, the Hall doesn't have anywhere near as passionate a fan base.

But I think our fans will flood this one IMO.

A father in Briarwood or Kew Garden Hills went on line this morning and bought tickets to this game for he and his son at $200, $300 or more a seat because that's what they are going for. He planned to take a nice 8 minute Saturday stroll to the game with said son. How will this man be made right?

I’m just speculating but I also wonder if this is due to more student demand for tickets. While the resale market is one indicator for demand, students may also be trying to go but can’t. They were absolutely en force for Marquette (along with X and Prov)

lol i see on Stub that sec3 row C went for 150$ 3 days ago...

the do this at MSG... will be able to get in at the200s for prob 40$ if not less

Biggest downside for me of the venue change as I had intended to use that last CA game as a chance to say goodbye and get some contact information from people I have sat with for years - before we are scattered throughout the arena next year like cremated remains.

Opportunity lost.

Fees. The cheapest on tikpic right now are $ 181 and only a handful are less than $200. Good seats are over $300. How are you helped by $40 msg tickets if you already bought this sold out game secondary market.

you're not... victim of circumstances,,, and in this case- the circumstance is Success.

its not like you bought from the School for 300$... u bought on the secondary market... theres a similar chance prices dip a bit leading up to the game as sellers try and offload their tickets...

No, the circumstance is not succes. The circumstance is screw the consumer. The game is less than 3 weeks away, ticket scalping is legal and the secondary market is bigger than the primary market. It's too late to change venue. Purchasers should be able to buy on Stubhub with confidence and without fear of a bait and switch.

It's not personal. I've had reasonable priced tickets to this game for months and I'm not the Queens dad I used as an example. I'm just a champion of the common man and anti fraud. Let's see how it plays out. Perhaps an equitable solution will be part of the and this discussion is moot.

I assume he bought from a ticket reseller. Not to be a pain, but his problem will be with the guy who sold him the tickets on a third party site. That seller needs to see what SJU does first with his tickers and then the buyer needs to work it out. The pitfalls of using ticket resellers.

I’m
I was there I saw a good number of Marquette sweaters and gear on people. Again clear minority but definitely enough to hear them cheer.

SHU can't draw flies to Prudential Center with tickets on StubHub for $1.
There contingent that made noise was basically the seats directly behind their bench. They were vocal but small. I saw maybe three others in Marquette gear in the mezzanine at halftime.

Overall I agree with Carmine, and will strip out the resell angle. People bought tickets to this game straight from SJU with the understanding it would be played in Queens. Now it has been moved to Manhattan, three weeks before the game.

To me, that’s pretty icky. I know some prefer MSG (at this point in my life I don’t care either way) but I absolutely know people who prefer CA for various reasons.

If they want to play all games at MSG that’s fine. But making a major geographical venue change three weeks away from a game is something I cannot remember any NY team ever doing in my lifetime.

The term “bait and switch” feels very appropriate.
