2024-25 Season

first point... absolutely correct.... When i get the opp to sit in the double letter section (seat-backs... nbd... im an elitist...lol), i am sometimes the only guy standing cheering (along with FrankinGeneral of twitter fame couple rows back)

second one... i mean...cmon... im not comparing it to other arenas... that's just not fair... it's a glorifed HS gym...

What i still stand by, and have to think most here do... is the 1 advantage of a 5k+arena on campus in Queens... is it's Gonna be a "Home" Court... not filled with 30-50% of opposing fans.
I agree with your last point, but, there are plenty of on campus arenas the same size, and smaller, than CA that have great atmosphere and create a raucous environment with a true home court advantage.

of course... for CA to become what you are describing... we'd have to forcibly move 75% of the Lower bowl attendees to the nosebleeds with Maher...

Is CA top 50 / 100/ 200 in "Home Court" environments... probably not.... Doesn't take away from the fact it is a "better" Home Court than MSG when hosting the likes of Seton Hall...

I agree with everything you said in this post. How sad is it that CA is not in the top 200 home court environments? There are only 352 division 1 basketball programs.

I think this was a very classic "Pitino speak" thing. He knows its a dump and its really not a good place to see a game, but he was being very nice in making fans and the administration feel good about how bad Carnesseca is by saying it.

But there's no statistical evidence that we win games at CA that we would lose at MSG or anywhere else (forget the buy games in November. I did a BE conference match-up comparison and its very event).

And anecdotically, I don't remember any games where any one of us have posted "wow, being at CA really gave us the edge in that one." We've lost just as many heartbreakers, close games, etc. -- and typically with our guys doing the stupid stuff at the end of it.
Totally agree. CA has not been a home court advantage for Big East games for several years.
Hopefully 10-12 games at MSG next season including this one.

Ya... would like to point the blame on Us fans, thats what creates a raucous environment... but we haven't had much to get raucous about the last 25 years...

How was CA in the 80s/90s? (those that can answer)

87-88 season against Providence was my first game ever. Pretty sure it was sellout 6008 or whatever and crowd was awesome

mjmaherjr verballed to st johns that night so it was a great day in school history too :)

I was being facetious. I don’t gamble either! I hope he does get a job.
As disappointing as it was at SJU he earned a Big East COY award. Most of his players that left have found success at their new schools, his recruiting wasn’t as bad as advertised. His resume has more than enough on it to land a mid major gig somewhere. This is not me defending him in any way, I thought it was a good move to let him go.
