2024-25 Rankings

As you say the rankings are important from a public perception standpoint. They equal increased media attention, which assists ticket sales, totally agree. And the bigger the crowds at MSG the greater the home court advantage, which is not easily a big advantage at MSG.

So, more fun, as you rightly infer, and also can actually help with other goals.
A lot of casual fans first question when I talk about the Johnnies is are they ranked or where are they ranked? For making the tournament or increasing our seed line it means zilch but the points others have made it does help public awareness and the brand.

If we are in the top 25 when the season ends then we have played very well. I agree it is a good marker of our progress but making noise in the tournament is just as important. Nobody cares that Utah State is ranked but if they make the Final Four people will take notice at least until next season.

16-3 (7-1). First place. Top 25 on Monday. Must win vs. Xavier coming up 😂
We will be ranked on Monday. If we want to keep that ranking then we have to beat Xavier at home. If we don’t , I guarantee you we will not be ranked the following week. Let’s just keep winning and let’s get Smith healthy.

Im assuming we’ll be ranked inside the top 20. We were 26th, a slew of teams have lost. We have won 11 of our last 12 games, 16-3 overall, 7-1 first place in Big East, where Creighton and Xavier are getting back into the conversation.

Johnnies' KenPom improves from #21 to #18 after beating #156 (now #168) Seton Hall by 28 on the road! Expecting a solid NET jump as well.

Such a weird feeling to not only win that game, but to do so in a rout. Looking forward to seeing our ranking on Monday!
Our defensive rating also jumped to number five in the country. Only teams ahead of us are Houston, Duke, Tennessee and Kansas. Not bad company.
