A few more things about the scheduling announcement I haven't seen mentioned yet:
1. Cragg gets a lot of heat from some posters, but as AD he's played a role in these Duke negotiations. May still have gotten done under a different AD, but it certainly helps that he worked there for decades.
2. With conferences going to 20 games (and 11 OOC games), it's now significantly more difficult to schedule blue bloods (or any major program). This is one reason our scheduling under CMA was so lackluster compared to Lavin/Mullin. Getting an OOC game with Duke is a very big deal, especially in 2024.
3. Alabama at MSG! Not much talk about this, obviously they're still seen as a football school, but Alabama these past few years has been really good. This is a major SEC school that was just the overall #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year.
Pitino's right in that this will likely be the best OOC schedule in St. John's history.
