2024-2025 Schedule

My son is a sophomore and goes to all the basketball games. The school sometimes [not sure why not for every Garden game] supplies buses from campus to the Garden which is great but they do not supply them for the kids to get back to campus. When we have night game, and sometimes the late game, getting back to campus from the city is not the safest thing for the kids. Not sure why the school doesn't supply buses both ways.

I can be wrong but I also think they only played three night games at MSG. One was Michigan, Villanova and Providence (which was during winter break)

I think the reason that the bus is just there and not back is so students can get food or do what they want in the city after the game. For UBS Arena games, it’s to and from the game. I think that’s due to the proximity to UBS and campus.
I know my son and his friends would rather have the ride back to campus especially for the late games. They don't end until after 11:00-11:30 so safety is definitely an issue. NYC is a mess and getting kids back to campus safely should be the main priority.

I'm not sure the bus has much correlation with attendance issues. Michigan was an electric atmosphere. Providence was during winter break, so I give the students a break on that one. I wasn't at Nova, but I'd venture to guess the lack of attendance had to do with a three game losing streak moreso than that.

Absolutely!!! Michigan was an amazing atmosphere for the first MSG game for Pitino. There were students at the Providence game, and I’ll admit my section was not bringing the energy like the student section where the lacrosse team was, and the Nova game was electric in terms of the students because the moment St. John’s jumped out to a big lead the student section was loud and ready to erupt for almost anything

I know for a fact that a bunch of students tried to sign up to get on the bus and they couldn't. There was no more room. most of those kids decided not to go to the game because it was too much of a hassle to get to and from the game. Just trying to point out these are simple little things to help kids get involved. Buses to and from off campus games is fairly standard for schools.

For the Michigan, Nova, and UConn games, the division of student success did buses to and from those games. Not only that, but gave students the opportunity to buy a ticket if they didn’t have season tickets. Our student spirit committee organization on campus, Redzone, did transportation to and from UBS. I think we don’t do transportation back to campus from the Garden because of the funding we get from Student government.

I'd definitely like the school to put more resources into getting students engaged. I think the team winning/being an exciting product + giveaways are the two most determining things, but I don't think a bus to/from MSG would hurt. And if there's no more room, that's great, they should get another one. So I don't mean to split hairs. I just don't think it's a top of mind issue compared to other things.

Another good reason for a bus for the early PM games would be so they actually show up on time. ;)

When I was there, RedZone did have busses for some away games like Nova and Georgetown. I'm not sure what it is now but I'd presume its still happening. I'm hopeful with Pitino he'll notice some best practices at Louisville and try to implement them here.

From looking at the RedZone social media pages, they used to do road trips for certain away games for certain sports. I feel like people would actually turn out if we did a road trip for a MBB game. I would also try to do a roadtrip for a couple games in the spring.

The PM games, when they do provide a bus, best believe that they are very strict about promptness. The bus does not wait for anyone, so for any student that signs up has to be on time inside Carnesecca for check in, at the time check in is at

Obviously I've been there, but way too many students show up at the 12pm games after the 2nd TV timeout. Wake up! lol

Some of the times, that’s due to some students wanting to pregame early at nearby bars in the areas or pregaming with their friends on a late train to Penn Station.

To save half the costs 😂
