That is a PR thing. You have to play the game with popular players you dont want around anymore.

If Pitino wanted Posh he would have mentioned him with Joel and Drissa and he would be on this squad.

He was not mentioned, he is not on the squad and there is 0 chance of him coming back to the squad.

Like you as a poster RSR but would like to see a round robin tournament between you, Boo and LW as to who is the most skeptical if not down right negative poster during the very short RP era. ;):):ROFLMAO:

I’ve been steadfast in my support for Pitino. I think he’s an amazing hire. I just wish we would have retained a few of these kids. It also annoys me when some on here treat our new coaches as if they can do no wrong. I watched this same rodeo with Lavin, Anderson and Mullin. Obviously Pitino is a better coach than any of those three but nobody is infallible

Hey, one way to look at it…our “departures” are done because no one except the 3 (Soriano, Keita, Traore) are left! We can only ADD at this point. 😂🤣
 
The only concern I have is that MAYBE Pitino underestimated how difficult it would be to recruit to St. John’s in 2023. I have no doubt that he will adjust if that is the case, though.

I think it might possibly explain why we circled back to Jenkins after he mentioned only Clayton immediately. Or why he thinks enough about Nelly Junior Joseph to have his son recruit him to a solid program like New Mexico but not take him on to an empty roster here to backup the 5 and get minutes at the 4.

It’s so bad, i even gave Mullin a chance. I read a post of mine from that era. And it was essentially, ‘boy I liked Lavin, but the admin thought they needed a change and aggressively went after the guy they wanted. And I like a plan aggressively followed’. Which was the exact opposite of how we got Mike (who I said something like ‘who to run a process that terrible and still get a coach that has the pedigree of Mike Anderson maybe we will back into success). So the admin follows an aggressive plan (which I admittedly like) gets Pitino and I am negative. Why is that? 100% personal bias. I think he’s a skeevy guy who does his work when benefits and payment had to be done in the shadows.

So I got to get all my frustration out in the off season because come game time I’m going to be rooting for whomever is in red, whether I like them personally or not. I’ll say it again I’d rather be happy than right, so hears to hoping we make a couple tournaments in his tenure. Although, I’d feel a lot better (although probably everyone would) if we had one commit outside of the Iona bubble to ‘break the seal’. Don’t worry though come Nov I’ll behave and be cheering.

Personally through years of therapy I find it easier to just readily admit to myself doesn’t matter if it’s the Son of Sam or Vladimir Putin or George Santos I’d take any of them as coach if they win us some ncaa games. I’m 53 now my moral high ground days are over when it comes to our coach :)

You’re right, when we started losing I’d rationalize it with, our players are trying hard and at least nobody is paying a back up center, accusing an NCAA investigation to be tantamount to raping his daughter, or getting his bits out at practice. At least we were losing with honor. And that along with getting older and being able to afford a higher quality of brown liquor made this okay. That’s probably why I like Lavin so much he won a little, was a tremendous face of the University, and seemed concerned about the kids well being even after school.

My brain will need to recalibrate and enjoy hopefully future basketball success. Still if I had 30 Mill and I saw what’s happening in Chicago, I would have made Donovan say no at least 🤣

For the record I liked Lavin a lot too.
