2023-24 Roster

Andre Curbelo and David Jones were consensus top 30 last year if not higher, how did that work out? These rankings mean nothing, especially when you have a player developer like Rick Pitino and this staff.
You do realize that is crazy thinking right?
So if the number one pick in the NFL or NBA draft bombs for you, going forward you should trade the pick for a second round pick?
That is some logic straight out of that Draft Day movie.

Like HS rankings... outside of some of the Obvious Top 50 Talent... highly doubt coaches give much credence to the number by a player's name.

with this list- im sure you can randomly sort players 125-230... and no one would blink.

To me, what it means is that the ONLY way to evaluate players is to see them perform in games and by talking to people in the business you trust who would have an informed intelligent read on a player; you know, the way coaches evaluate players. And even then, it remains a very inexact science.
You certainly don’t get reads from sterile stats and not from click bait ranking sites, when you have no idea of what credentials they have to judge players, what the criteria they use to judge and subsequently rank and how many of the “Top 100” players they can possibly evaluate to come up with anything resembling a credible list. And who really have no way to get any kind of a line on the all-important intangibles for each player.

I don’t disagree, but seems you still use these lists as some sort of guideline.
I am certain that if we got the top guys on the list people on here would be pretty excited.

Rankings, stars, lists, are all subjective and often times don't pan out. Putting too much stock into them is fools gold.

As the roster stands now it looks like we have a + Big East starter at center, a wing in Alleyne that has proven he can start for a winning high major, and a PG in Jenkins I feel most of us would be comfortable with if he was the 4th or 5th best starter.

We still need a kid that can reliably create offense and get 17+ points per game from the perimeter and a brick sh*thouse PF.

Ding ding. We need a wing who can get buckets and a PF who can complement Soriano.

Do you have a cite to confirm that statement? Thanks.
DJ - 9
AC -41

i remember reading articles saying how well we made out in the Portal.... and if Posh / Belo gelled... "great things" will happen in Queens.... well, great things did happen due that combo- we got ourselves a generational coach.... so thank you DJ and AC!

I think OP was talking top 30 in portal last spring.

Jones 9, Curbelo 41 on 24/7 last spring.

Jones 15, Curbelor 21 on ESPN

Bench - Conway (1)
Bench - Davis (3)
Bench - Traore (3)

Main targets as of now and where they slot in if they commit:
Mgbako (Lock to start at PF)
Ledlum (Lock to start at SF or PF)
Demary (Starts along Jenkins, both as Combo Guards)
Thomasson (Starts at SG or first G off the bench in instant offense type role)
Cormac Ryan (Likely starting SF)
Glenn Taylor (Could start at the 3 or be first wing off the bench)
Dunlap (Mid bench piece)
Meyer (Probably slots in between Davis and Traore)

Here's the difference, Coach Joe Shmoe gets 3 highly ranked players and adds them to their team. These players play for themselves and not the team and the season goes down the tubes. RP or Bill Self or Tom Izzo adds 1 stud and a few players that fit their system and this team over performs and wins the close games. I still would love RP to get highly ranked players because if they are highly ranked AND fit his system then we are really looking good.

I am really interested to see where we get picked in BE preseason.
