2023-24 Roster

PG - Jenkins
SG -
SF -
PF -
C - Soriano

Bench - Conway
Bench - Davis
Bench - Traore
Bench - Keita

Main targets as of now and where they slot in if they commit:
Thomasson (slides into starting SG role)
Ledlum (Lock to start at PF)
Alleyne (Probably starting SF or first 2/3 off the bench)
Cormac Ryan (Starting SF)
Slazinski (Starting PF if no Ledlum, first 4 off the bench if Ledlum)
Dunlap (Mid bench piece)
Meyer (Probably slots in between Davis and Traore)

I go to bed each night thinking Rick has the inside track on yet-to-be-made news of a star high school player reneging or some stud that will soon enter the portal.

Because of paper, this roster is just (In Rick We Trust) and nothing else.

I like this better than my recruiting tracker list. Nice work

I’d really like if the roster makeup pushes Thomasson to a scorer off the bench

Alleyne is a guard.

Four of Ten Roster Replenishments filled.
Not comparing players but thinking about slots:

Jenkins for Posh
Davis for King
Conway For Pinzon
Alleyne for Mathis

? for Storr
? for Wusu
? for Jones
? for Curbello
? for Stanley
? for Nywie

Decommitted Recruits
? for Reede
? for Gardner
? for Lendeborg

Someone can fill in the question marks with their wish list here.

With advent of three point shot back in the day, nobody embraced change more than Pitino

It’s unheard of that a SJU team ever recruits nor coaches with the 3 being a priority. We have hired coaches for decades who have made us known as the team that will have to win by “rock fight”. I for one am looking forward to some nicer lookin offensive basketball eventually. Defense as well.

I don't think we fill all 13, so two may go without a swapping partner.

Plus it seems like he thought he could get more out of Traore/Keita than Lendeborg. (Traita? Keiore?)

Yeah could be a 2 or 3. UConn ran some lineups in the tourney with Newton, Calcaterra and Alleyne as the backcourt so he would have been the 3 in those lineups. Assume if Thomasson is in the fold as a starter then Alleyne would be a 3 mostly, but could go either way
It would be a nice problem to have but I prefer impact guys with size now being added for the 3 and 4 positions.
Bottom line is Pitino is putting together a much improved offensive lineup at every position.

Honestly, backcourt as it is as of today will be more dynamic by far than what we had last year I think. Different type of player. Better coaching.

Moose made great point re having a lot of one year guys, on one hand adds experience & on other makes 24 recruiting challenging. Staff knows that obviously and are working very hard on 24 prospects .
The one good thing I suppose is that when talking to someone like Fland or Edgecombe, we can likely point to a starter's name on the roster and say, "He is not going to be here next season."
