2023-24 Roster

Trust me, if you go look at the game threads there is a ton of revisionist history going on. I’m with you, it was maddening going to Carnesecca and watching that team phone it in on defense and wander around the arena during time-outs. Now that they all decided to transfer rather than stick around and show a HOF coach they weren’t part of the problem everyone loves them.

Shrug.
Redzing and iDraft - thanks for your imo fair-minded observations . Who really knows what Coach Pitino has been told or has observed; who knows what his goals and intentions are; who knows what his recruiting tactics and targets are.
There’s a lot of unknowns behind the scenes and I won’t speculate… I’ll trust the HC and let this play out.
As with any recipe, need to give it time until we can safely say
“THE TIME HAS COME TODAY “ (from Chambers Brothers circa late 1960s before some posters were born 😊)

this was posted a short while ago on the team's official twitter page. pretty empty gym of only 2 players and coach

Anyone have any idea when we'll know about Jenkins---yea or nay?
Obviously not a game changer, but he obviously knows Rick's system and I think he'd be a solid contributor.

Great song!

Very predictable, Going to grab Phil Green 2.0 from Iona and 6-9 Iona kid that was hurt. Some kid from Kutztown state that’s averaged 15 and shot 36 from 3. Some Towson ST kid that people are going to claim is the perfect Pitino player and they have no idea how he wasn’t ranked in top 500 coming out of HS. The “ He is Rick Pitino he can get 3 Walk-ons and 2 cheerleaders into the tournament” will claim we are Sweet 16 bound.

Those on here that are mad at the roster destruction or have a signed Posh t shirt in their house will go into season angry and hope the team struggles. ( Not me, I am pretty certain I am right but hope I am not and will root that way)

If we struggle next year a bunch will turn on coach.
Jenkins is not like Phil Greene. Phil was a solid player who was asked to play out of position. Phil didn’t have a lot of wiggle and his handle was suspect. Jenkins is a slippery kid who drives well and is much more equipped to play point. I think he’d be a great addition. My only concern there is that he doesn’t complement your boy Posh well like Clayton. You’d want to pair both with some shooters.

I think the Slazinski is a solid add too. I am mildly concerned that it might signify some concerns with getting better players, but I don’t want to feed the negative trolls and don’t want to rehash it with those are the completely other end of the spectrum.

I’d take both in a heartbeat. And if Pitino Jr. wants to give us Mashburn Jr. as a show of good faith for Nelly Junior Joseph, I’d take him too :)

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Exactly. There are 2 types of fans on this board right now:

1- Exited to have Pitino
2- Have a posh bobblehead on their nightstand

The posh stuff is lunacy. Ive never seen such an average player have a cult like following.
Actually the 2 types of posters are

1. Everyone
2. Mullins Revenge who called the police to say Posh committed a murder in 1940

I suppose my one mild concern so far is semi-similar in that I think our PF starter/backup combo will be the weakest of all the pairings that we eventually trot out. I think Slazinski is solid but not sure how much traditional PF play we get from the position. Does the staff try for Massoud, who is big and can shoot, but is largely a nonfactor on the boards? I guess if we managed to secure Slazinski and Mahoney to man the PF spots we could live with it, but Soriano may be stuck with a lot of the heavy lifting.

I saw him 3 or 4 times and reminded me of Phil. Not sure he is a point guard.
I have no problem with him but didn’t think Iona backcourt as a tandem in BE was good idea.
You seem to want while Iona team to relocate. Not sure that Ion team beats last year ST John’s team even with mismatch in coaching.

IMO, the assumption that Pitino autonomously blew the team up is an erroneous one.

This seems to be a very prudent opinion. I'm not sure what Shanley witnessed either in practice or on the court but it seems he was very unsatisfied with pretty much everything around the program. To what extent this has anything to do with the buyout issue remains to be seen as well. I'm not sure what Cragg's or Van's POV was at all either.

I mentioned the correlation and people said I was crazy. Not sure Rick Pitino signs off on that scenario but who knows?

He re-recruited one player.

Two of you count Drissa.
No, he at least re-recruited 5 because Alexander and Storr had offers to return they turned down, and autonomously means IMO Pitino was not the only one who had input into the decision to not re-recruit certain players. And Keita makes 5. You obviously don’t like the way it played out, but at least deal in the facts.

Jenkins is coming I have been told.
Obviously earlier would be better for this board.

Rick had a decent roster in place - a core of Soriano, Posh, Dylan, Storr, Omar, Gardner and even Yaxel - that could've been the makings of a very good team.

These guys weren't bums. They were hard nosed basketball players on an underachieving team.

With a lot of coaching up and an influx of transfer talent, they could have been something.

There was no reason to blow it up.
Do you know there was no reason to blow it up?

Might be a long shot with TX purportedly involved, but would love it if Rick could work some of his magic with Garwey Duall.

Have you not read anything? seriously? Lets see cuerbeo pinzon suspended, posh was suspended, and i dont recall the 4th. Lets see reports that this team had issues off the court as per Father. Let's see rick kept van macon who knew everything that happened. Also for the record posh and storr were invited to say they opted to leave. This same team that couldnt even make the NIT? yeah lets keep that team intact shall we, cause we want all those problems last year. Love all these new members coming out of the wood works now
