2023-24 Roster

Jesus, this is exactly what I’ve been saying for years…decades really. I get it, they are our players but we wax poetic for mediocrity around here.
Couldn't have said it any better than Fanta and Guinness77.

The whining on these board is nuts. We are about to enter into the best years for this program in 38 years...get over it and enjoy the ride.

The last 30 years has been downright embarrassing on so many levels for the program and team. It has been a clown show to say the least

Wouldn't it be ironic if Curbelo, the most maligned player on the team, was the last man standing? FWIW I'd love Curbelo back. I know it's a long shot but I think Rick could do wonders with the kid.
Absolutely happening!
Curbelo, Jones and Wusu will be here.

And, lol, Pitino just got here. Should he bring in 10 freshmen all at once for a recruiting season that’s like 90% done? He shouldn’t try to get the best players he can, right away?? He’s in a position where getting transfers and (oh my gosh) one-and-dones are kinda his best options at this point. You all woulda KILLED for a one-and-done the past 15 years and now we actually have a chance to get a few.

I’m getting kinda sick of some of hyperbole around here.
I have been and continue to be convinced that there's a segment of the fan base who are content with us being mediocre. That was also my issue with the administration all these years; they were willing to settle for mediocrity as long as there were no issues with the program. So what did they wind up with? A program that was less then mediocre and that had issues. Thankfully we now have a President in place who gets it, and has shown a commitment to winning. No more mediocrity.

Which in turn has turned us into clown 🤡 fans 🤣😂

Can’t say it any better. We haven’t won a frickin NCAA game in 22 years. 22!!! I was 24 years old. I’m 46 now, I’ll be 47 by next March.

For a supposed top-10 ALL-TIME program that’s literally insane. Anybody who’s a fan of this program should be upset about that. We watch all our rivals make the tournament and win games (even, win championships) and we talk about random games from 30-40 years ago. It’s all really sad if you ask me.

Anybody ok with that definitely has some kind of angle, illness, or just loves punishment. I’ve been making jokes about the complaining in my various, little ways, but I just saw a few posts this morning and I couldn’t take it anymore.

No, I'm definitely not wrong. Granted Posh had 4 nice games towards the tail end of the season. He also had a terrible game the last game of the season. His entire season was up and down. He had a couple of DNPs. He looked very unhappy much of the time on the court. You can blame CMA and/or Curbelo, and no doubt they are partly to blame, but some of the blame falls on Posh. His best season was his Freshman year when he played mostly off the ball. I love Posh, but he is not a traditional half court PG. I believe Pitino would have found a role for him here, but I also believe that it wasn't the role Posh wanted. I'll trust Pitino on this one. Guess we'll find out next season who was right and who was wrong.
Just another friendly disagreement.

Post of the year. That sums up the last 30 years in less than four lines. Well said Monte

Curbelo needs discipline. He’s a better ball handler than Posh and a better distributor than Posh. With some discipline he can be a contributor. Maybe not the main guy, but someone who could be valuable. Posh is a great kid to root for but IMHO not the whole package. Limited is certain areas.

Let me just say that I am not advocating for a complete roster overhaul. I definitely prefer continuity and do get attached to players who have been here for a while. But having said that, I understand why things are unfolding as they are, and I'm expecting that this off season is an outlier, and that moving forward there will be roster continuity under Rick.

IMO Curbelo was the most talented kid on the team. Like a wild stallion, he needs to be reigned in. Don't know if he'll be back, but if he is I am confident that we will see a completely different version of Curbelo under Rick's tutelage.

There’s nothing we could have done about this. We couldn’t have Anderson here even one minute longer. These kids got recruited by different guys, if they want to leave, there’s nothing we can do about it. That’s the nature of this business/sport. I wish them well, thank them for their service, but like life itself, we move on. And for once we should be able to say upwards and onward. This isn’t Josh the bumfreak schmuck from some mid-major school, this is Rick freakin Pitino.

It’s like a person who is kidnapped falling in love with their kidnapper.

Loved the tenacity with which Posh played. At the end of the day he couldn’t shoot or finish and didn’t dish or take care of the ball well enough to be a winning Big East caliber guard. As much as I appreciated the steals and deflections he also allowed a lot of penetration (some of that is coach’s fault for allowing him to play pressure D 30 feet from the basketball). Wish him nothing but the best and hope he finds a great landing spot.

Really sorry to hear this. I wish all the best to Posh and really enjoyed watching him compete so hard for three years. Always loved his attitude. I’d love to see him land at another big school…he can dish, rebound better than most, gets his points, and is a beast on defense…he’s better than mid major. We’ll get past this emotional letdown of him leaving, and so will he. This just hurts a little right now.
whoever said huggins would love this kid. i agree!
