2023-2024 Schedule

I'd forgotten that Lavin's first team finished #18 in the final AP poll despite losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament after DJ's season ending injury.
Definitely a strong finish that year with some memorable wins as we weren't ranked at all until February. I was at that Duke blowout in late January, a few months before we moved to NC. Good memories for sure. Suspect the team will make lots of good memories this season.

Scooped up the Brooklyn December Sunday tickets yesterday morning, ticket prices have subsided in the last 100 Section. 104 is the program's allotment of tickets- $42. The last couple of trips to Barclays with us involved have had virtual zero leaks into the secondary market, so not a bad entry price to eventually move around a half filled arena on Game 3 of the quadruple header.

The following Saturday matinee at The Garden (Fordham) I am very much looking forward to enjoying somewhat of a Holiday Festival feel for that drubbing.

The OOC schedule overall is very rewarding for STH's when compared to recent years. Charleston is the cherry on top, still working on my wife on the trip.

Looking forward to a eventful and memorable season ahead, we all deserve it.

I’d like to see most of the CA games played at UBS, as part of a college doubleheader.

Under Lavin, we played 2 conference games at CA for three consecutive seasons.
2011-12 (Providence, DePaul)
2012-13 (DePaul, South Florida)
2013-14 (Providence, Seton Hall)
The 2011 (or 2012) Prov game was where Harkless broke some scoring record, I think, and started the Cooley whine-fest about having to play there.

And dlo in his first ever BE game was somehow overshadowed even with 25 pts and 7 assists. Damn how bright did the future look for us with those 2 then!

I don't know, it seems to me that it makes sense to have a few games against the creampuffs at CA to make it easy for students to attend. Not sure those games would sell enough at UBS to make sense in any event and you need a few of those games.
Start the season with 2 games at CA.

Rick is a very forceful and persuasive person. He wanted 8 plus garden games and got it. He wanted a stronger non conf schedule and got it. UBS showed interest and now we will be there too.

He's delivered a roster rebuild but I'm pretty sure he would have gotten us to post season had he been coach last season. I don't think Curbelo would have pulled the crap he pulled on CMA,and if he did, only ONCE.

I think 5th place is a pretty fsir assessment but i think we have to be on the right side if the bubble to keep everything going. Meaning NIL NIL NIL.

It should be a fun season but i wouldn't be shocked if we get out if the gates slowly with Charleston served up right away.

Everyone kid will get a shot at emerging as a leader and that kind of competition will have everyone playing their asses off.

Right now on campus for any reason and men's basketball gets raised by faculty and administrators who never followed us much. Students will be pumped as soon as they return to campus. A friend if mine renewed after canceling when bumped in the big reseating 20 years ago.

This IS going to work

On episode 55 of the Eye on the Storm podcast join Frank and I as we parse through the St. John’s non conference schedule!

We discuss the pressing questions heading into year 1. Which concerns are valid & which are just hate for Rick Pitino’s squad?

Weigh in on which questions we discussed you think are real concerns and which are just noise. Thank you as always, can’t wait for the season!

What like playing in their underwear? JK. Would still rather money that could go to cancer research or something. Coaches can do what they want fans knowing it’s a scrimmage. Football does pre season intra squad scrimmage and sells tickets and donates to charity.

Not thrilled by a place that charges $50 for parking and then you need a shuttle bus to get there. CA is much better for getting students to walk to the games
That makes two of us. Parking is ridiculous. My first time there was the Kansas game, Got lost for a few minutes when I got off the bus to get back to my car. I don't drink but treated a friend of mine to a beer, $23.00 plus they want a tip, WTF. Never again.

I'm going to save a lot of redmen guys here drink $. At UBS across from section 101 is the American Express Lounge. If you have an Amex card you get admission to the lounge and you get 1 free drink :)

If SJU runs a successful Big East level program most games are too “ big” for Carnesecca and need to be played at area arenas. Which arena a person prefers tends to be connected to their own zip code, and SJU is using the most universally convenient (which also is world famous) predominantly. Logically this adds fan costs versus playing on campus.

It comes down to what type of program a person wants. I rather pay more and watch Top 25 basketball, but I understand that for others they prefer the cheaper option we have seen with our team and schedule under Anderson.
