Cleveland's pitching is good, but some of what happened in these two games has to go on the Tampa offense, and Cleveland barely pulled them out, as is.

I would have put Peraza on the roster over Gonzalez, but I'm also confident that they won't let Marwin do anything to lose a game for them.

Also, TJ surgery for Effros (who had been one of our more reliable bullpen guys), so he's gone until 2024 (he's actually under contract until 2027).

No way were they going with Peraza with 50 major league ABs over the more experienced Gonzalez who has postseason experience. The surprising Effros announcement of his needing TJ surgery came out of leftfield and makes a depleted and suspect bullpen even more so.

Lack of hitting on this team is a problem. Mentioned this all year long. And Cole has thrown 70 pitches in 4 innings. So he gies maybe 6 and hands it over to a weak bullpen. Not ace like.

Well Cole went 6 +. I thought he should have finished the 7th. He was only at 101 pitches. All of Boone's pitching moves worked out tonight. Got just enough hitting. Big steal by Judge. 3 Ks though. Huge homer by Rizzo. Donaldson sucks at baserunning. On to Game 2.

That‘s at least the second time he has done that this year. If you see the opposing team playing the ball like it didn't go out, assume it didn’t. First Base Coach Travis Chapman didn’t help by slapping Donaldsons’ hand before he rounded first base.

All and all, a win out of the gate.
