2022 Yankees

Yankees magic # in the AL East Is 11 over Toronto, and 10 over Tampa Bay.

Sounds like a lot, with only 16 games to go, but we play Pittsburgh and Boston this week. Tampa Bay started a 3 game series with Houston last night (and they have another one next weekend), and Toronto begins a 2 game set in Philly tonight. Then, the Rays and Jays play a 4-game set with each other at the Trop this weekend, so the magic # will go down automatically.

We clearly have the easiest remaining schedule of the three, so it should be just a matter of time before we clinch the East (hopefully in the next week, or so), and a first round bye (Cleveland, who leads the AL Central, has a worse record than any of the AL Wild Card teams).

Actually, the AL playoff field is pretty much set, since Seattle holds a 5-game lead over fading Baltimore for the last Wild Card spot.

Doesn’t sound like a lot to me. Yanks don’t have to win 11 of remaining 16 games as contenders losses also subtract from the magic number.

We will get to see how good Harrison Bader is tonight:

Also Montas to the IL.

Think there's some undue pressure on Bader, because the Montgomery trade was unpopular to begin with, and with the way Montgomery has pitched for St. Louis.

Just remember, it's not Bader's fault that we traded away Montgomery.

I think Bader will be a good add. Looks like a .250 hitter with a little pop in his bat who plays a gold glove center field. Huge upgrade over Hicks.

It should not be very difficult for him to outperform Hicks.
