2022 Yankees

Another nice win today. No help from the Red Sux or Orioles. Pitching is good and will have to continue to be so. Still have little confidence in the offense. Unbelievable what Judge is doing.

Sure is! I'd be very surprised if he is liked in the clubhouse. Also, his bad throwing negates a lot of his good fielding. Finally, he has had too many instances of lack of hustle.

Donaldson is a stiff.

The Yankees also did wrong by him, IMO.

Remember, when they acquired him, Cashman and Boone both said they wanted Donadlson to bring that type of fire to the team. Then, when he does that against the White Sox, Judge calls him out, and the organization, not wanting to tick off a potential free agent, takes his side. So basically, they told Donaldson to do something, he did it, and then they said he was wrong for doing it. He wasn't playing great before that, but if you look at the numbers, the aftermath of that fight with the White Sox was when his season really started to go south.

I'm not going to defend his season by any means, but he may be one of those players who needs to be himself, in order to perform at his best, and I don't think the Yankees let him do that. I think that's been true of a lot of people in recent years, and is at least part of the reason why so many guys do well after leaving here.

Yankees have not let me be myself lately either , and many people have said my performance has suffered !!

And as a result, Cole now misses the Rays this weekend. Not good.
Rays got a hell of a schedule remaining. 3 vs NYY, 9 vs Tor, 6 vs Houston, 3 @ Cleveland finish on a 9 day road trip. Schedule makers did them dirty.

I'd be more worried about Toronto.

A lot of that remaining TB schedule has to do with the lockout. They play a 5-game series in Toronto next week, I think two of those games are lockout makeups.

That's also why they close with 9 straight on the road. That last series in Boston is a lockout makeup. In fact, all the games those last three days are rescheduled from the lockout. In fact, the Yankees and Texas have to make up a four-game series, which is why there is a doubleheader for the Yankees on the next to last day of the season.

6 with Houston was just rough scheduling for Tampa Bay.

Yankee transactions yesterday and today.

Rizzo to the 10 day IL
Luke Bard designated for assignment
Ronald Guzman contract is selected from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Josh Donaldson placed on the paternity list
Miguel Andujar recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Deivi Garcia recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

I am assuming Guzman was addd to the 40 man roster replacing Bard and then to the 28 man roster (increased by two September 1st) to replace Rizzo. Then Andujar replaces Donaldson on the 28 man and finally Garcia (who has been better of late after being horrible last year and most of this) comes up as the extra man for the double header while not having to be put on the roster and provides pitching depth.

Nothing like getting yourselves in an early 2-0 hole with this offense. I was surprised Donaldson (who I really don't like) was not in the March-like order, but now I know why. Thanks.
