Looks like an excellent trade. Got a starter definitely needed and a relieverWow, didn’t have to give up any of their minor league shortstops. Gonna miss Sears but needed a good starter which Sears might be in the future. Waldichuk was moving quickly up the ladder this year and was in Triple A.
Really donkt know anything about the reliever but as pointed out by SJU61982, that ERA is down right ugly
Agree I'd give them an AMontas/Trivino trade looks like an excellent one, especially given Severino's injury being longer term. I expect Trivino to be a big help in the pen.
Not sure if it was mentioned but Effros has like 5 years of team control supposedly.More about Effros.
They traded one of their better pitching prospects but get a guy who stats look pretty good, is still south of 30 and you have control over him for as he doesn't hit arbitration for at least another season. Definitely needed the bullpen help. I still would like to see them get Robertson.
I am afraid Schmidt will get sent back down to make room.
Not sure I like adding Luis Trivino to this deal. A couple of reasons:
1. In general, I don't like trading for other teams' closers, and expecting them to be setup men when they arrive here. Yes, there are instances where it has worked, but more often then not, it doesn't, especially when the move is done in season
and:
2. He's not that good. I know that reliever ERA's can be deceiving, but 6 and a half is a lot. And, he's been healthy all year, so it can't just be one bad outing.
OuchSeverino put on the 60 day IL.
You are a “tad” hard to pleaseGood win after the disappointing loss yesterday. 4 homers for the good guys, but this game never was safe while German was in the game. The more I see Benetendi, the more I dislike him. His next hard hit ball will be his first as a Yankee. Really soft contact from him. And IKF continues with his throwing issues.
Just calling them like I see them. You are a “tad” hard to please

All good trades now pls d f a. GalloBuy low and sell high...
Trivino's career era in the 4 years prior to this season is 3.70 in over 200 innings.
Also his 6+ era to date this year is in 32 innings. That's 23 earned runs so far. If that were 15 earned runs his era would be 4.20
That's 8 runs or 2-3 bad outings.
If his arm is healthy its a perfect time to acquire him. If he was having a typical year you would have to have given up a lot more to get the deal done.
Low cost/risk, high reward deal. Exactly what you look for as a GM. Smart move.
Yanks with a pretty tough August schedule. After Seattle, they are at St. Louis, at Seattle and at Boston before home series against Rays, Blue Jays & Mets.
