2022 Yankees

Or maybe they were just trying to drive the cost up to make the Yankees give up more.

I did read that he has told people he is open to getting the vaccine.
Obviously I wasn't on the front lines to know if it was a bluff. But as you also said all signs say he's getting it at this point. Funny how a change of laundry makes someone so staunch against something to change their mind

I am unimpressed which was the same feeling I had when we acquired Gallo (who I called a lefthanded hitting Gary Sanchez with better defense and athleticism) and Rizzo (whose talent I felt was dropping fast). Well I was right about Gallo and hoping I am wrong about Benintendi like I was about Rizzo (who I didn't want them to resign this winter as I had visions of Freeman or Olsen manning the bag at first base).

While we need someone to who can drive in runs by putting the ball in play and not just relying on the homerun (especially in the playoffs), while hitting .320, Benintendi has a total of 20 extra base hits in 90 games this season. I wanted a little more "pop" than that. Maybe that changes being in this lineup and home ballpark (I am not asking for a slew of home runs but at least trend towards the 17 he hit last year and more doubles).

I am expecting the Yankees to make additional moves for one or two starting pitchers and one or two relievers (David Robertson for a 3rd time would not displease me).
Prior to this year he averaged 16 HR a year. So like you said the hope is the short porch helps. He has the best batting avg on the Yankees by a good margin which is ironic.

In 30 career games at the Stadium he's hitting .260 with 7 HR and 20 RBI. Toss in the glove and that his name ends in a vowel and I'm sure most Yankees fans will drool over him and quickly forget he was a Red Sox. And hope he's more Johnny Damon and less Jacoby Ellsbury

"And hope he's more Johnny Damon and less Jacoby Ellsbury"

Thanks for that, I almost had finally suppressed my memory of Ellsbury.

If that was the case, than they failed miserably, because by all accounts, the Yankees did not give up much here. I think only one of the three prospects was ranked in the organizational top 30 (and on the lower end of that).

19, 21 and unranked in MLB Top 30.
Sikkema is good but already 24 an only at A because of injury history. He would have been Rule 5 eligible so they cleared a spot there.

Yankees drafted like 15 college pitchers in the Draft 2 weeks ago. There will likely be a cleansing of the arms in the minors based on that.

I think every pick from this draft by the Yanks were college players.

How many prospects actually pan out?

How many prospects actually pan out?
The Yanks can afford to give up prospects. Most don't pan out. This year the Yanks went big on college players in the draft, so one would think these players will move up sooner rather than a bunch of HS draftees. Thinking this replenishes the minors pretty well.

Not many. But that article that '85 posted said there are more originally signed/drafted Yankees in MLB than any other team? Something like that. Yankees do a great job hyping up prospects. But as that article pointed out more often than not they don't pan out.

They are actually with 3rd with 54 behind the Astros with 61 and the Cardinals with 57.

Yes they do a very good job of hyping their minor leaguers.

As I suspected they optioned Locastro back to Triple A (sorry Gallo is still here). I believe they also have/had to make a move on the 40 man roster as I believe it is full (those players on the 60 Day IL are not considered to be included on the 40 man roster).

With the MLB Network and Keith Law on Espn we know more about prospects than ever before. The hype is there for any fan to jump onto and dream away.

The info is great but those rankings change so drastically from Y2Y it doesn't mean that much unless they are in the top 10. I mean look at Kelenic he was #3 in MILB. He'll still have a good career most likely but the Media was all over the Mets and now Diaz is back to all star form and JK is in AAA as trade bait.

Cheez still have Gallo They must have no confidence in Andujar

Getting an all-star, leadoff, lefty bat who can play CF for three pitchers who about to be rule 5 eligible and were never going to pitch in the Bronx as a Yankee doesn't get you hot?

It's a darn good move.
