I think the Mets took a big step forward this year. I'd imagine they will take another this offseason but I have no idea what the game plan is.gman post=437842I’m over it at this point. I hope the surprise me and figure it out enough to make the playoffs but I don’t have much faith in that happening. I can’t invest the emotions to it. Thankfully only about 1 game a week falls during the day time here in London. I have better things to do on Sunday nights than watch us leave 20 men on base.
Stevie better shake some things up this off-season. He can’t be happy with .500
Jack Williams post=437844 said:There was a lot of talk about Lindor’s stats being down this year which is fair. But let’s be fair too and talk about how much they miss his presence.
he’s the leader and personality of this team. Without him they are lifeless. Obviously miss DeGrom too, but Lindor and his happy-go-lucky personality is infectious for the team. He’s the head of the snake and they need him back to have any sort of chance
Yes, Lindor has a great personality and is infectious but he has been nothing short of a bust this season. To make that kind of money clearly does not equate with his lack of production at the plate. McCann has not lived up to expectations as well. Diaz has amazing stuff but, for the most part, he has been a bust as well. He is clearly not a closer that you can depend on when the chips are down. Conforto has also had a subpar season to date.
When the Mets were winning, I told my friends that they were winning with smoke and mirrors. Their warts have been coming to the surface since the All Star break. I do think that they can win the division, not because they are really good but because the rest of the division is terrible. One nice winning streak and getting deGrom back sooner rather than later could put us over the top. I still have hope.
LGM!!!! Or, as my younger friends would say, LFGM!!!
My guess is the whole free agent process will change in the new CBA as far as timing and compensation. I expect a long process and a shortened season because of it. They need to revamp the whole team because this group doesn't understand situational baseball. Three hitting coaches in a year doesn't help either.SJUFAN2 post=437843 said:I think the Mets took a big step forward this year. Not signing Rocker is either a terrible mistake or a sign that they don't intend to sign any top tier FA's this off season. Either way its going to be interesting to see what they do.
Signing any top tier FA will cost them a 1st round pick since they will have two of them next year. If they continue to fall in the standings that forfeited pick could be the replacement pick the get for not signing Rocker.
If the plan is to protect that pick and not sign any top FA's this off season, are you guys going to be OK with that?

What's the best way to watch SNY?
I also want MSG for the Knicks.
What's the most affordable service?

Can only state what my opinion was at the time, but I couldn't see paying Wheeler the money he got based on his career to that point. Clearly so far that decision was wrong.Andrew post=437956 said:This goes back to the prior owners but letting Wheeler go to the Phillies in free agency is turning into a complete disaster.
If the Mets had signed him he would be on the IL right now.SJUNC post=437963 said:Can only state what my opinion was at the time, but I couldn't see paying Wheeler the money he got based on his career to that point. Hard to argue that.
