2021 Mets

The Mets haven’t been good all year. They’ve been in 1st place by default.  This fools gold looks to be coming to a crashing end.

Would be unreal until you consider you are talking about the Mets where no negatives results are beyond their capabilities.

Very disappointing 2 weekends, Mets should have swept the worst team in the NL.  They may have to activate the batting practice pitcher with the way they are going on DL.
 
Brutal game last night to watch but I guess a win is a win. Bats are waking up. We really need starters to give us some length this week or bullpen will be toast. deGrom and Carrasco before 8/1 would be great.

Dam--Amir Garrett looked good 2 nights in a row against the Mets.  He made the right choice in going all in on baseball.

Has had a rough year, control needs to improve. As a big hard throwing lefty he will always find a job, but command needs to get better to have a bigger role.
 
 
Yesterday, Stroman threw possibly his best game as a Met. While similar to his 2 over Rockies earlier, he had the additional pressure to "protect" an over-used/needed bullpen.  Came through in the clutch.
 
Electric win. 

Conforto has had his struggles at the plate this season but he plays a hell of a right field

Megill giving staff a big lift in his "audition".
 
YIf they can win this series and increase their lead that is huge with reinforcements coming. The NL east  needed to creep up on us before Degrom, Carasco and (eventually) Thor return. We are winning only half a pitching staff.

Afraid Steve Cohen will insist on a deal today and they overpay for something. They hopefully add Carrasco, deGrom and Lindor within the next few weeks and Syndergaard 8/1 if that can't win the division and compete in October it isn't their year. I wouldn't mind adding a lefty bullpen option at a reasonable cost. Otherwise play it out with what we have.

Team needs a jolt in a major way. 

And pitching is not going to help it alone. 

Mets are next to last in runs and 3rd to last with runners in scoring position. 
 
 
With all the ups and downs this season adding another solid player or two might be necessary to win the division. We would need everything to go beyond perfect to have a shot at the World Series and I don't see a player out there that could help enough in that area outside of Max Scherzer which wasn't and isn't going to happen.
