2020 Jets

Yes I do think as a college kid, you should humble yourself and go where you end up. Very entitled attitude if he doesn't. Eli got made fun of for it when he cried being drafted by Chargers. Wherever he ends up, he can force a trade if he gives it a shot and is not happy. The Jets can be turned around fairly easily. They need to focus on offense for around a handful of years especially in 1st rounds of drafts. Whether it's Darnold or Lawrence, getting more 1st round OL's, WR's, RB's, TE's, etc. will help big time. As I always say, the Jets' plan the last 20 yrs has been win with defense, draft defense in 1st. Every year. It failed miserably...we drafted them and they either flopped or did well and wanted out. So we have nothing to show for our 1st rounders on defense. The NFL is all about offense right now. It's time they acted like it.

No dog in the fight as I’m not a Jets fan but I don’t see why he would pull an Eli. Eli didn’t want to play in San Diego. Guess he doesn’t like perfect weather. Sure the Jets have been trash for a long time. But there will be a new coach. All signs point to the GM being competent. And the amount of endorsements Trevor can get in NY is absurd. I would think he would want Jets instead of Jaguars.

Then again I thought I saw he’s a real small town kid. Never even been to an NFL game before. Barely followed the Falcons who were close to where he grew up.

The party among Fins fans regarding Gates being with Jets continues. I used to be a pro football fan but now I still root for the Jets.

Jets/Pats next Monday.

Story time. Last year the Jets played the Patriots on Monday night football on october 21st. That’s significant because it was my 22nd birthday. I had friends over to my apartment in queens and we ordered pizza and wings for the game. The jets were riding high after a win against the cowboys in which Darnold returned from mono. Optimism for once was high. A primetime win against the pats and a cupcake second half of the schedule, this game could’ve turned the season around, or so I thought at the time.

So here we go. Game starts. And it’s over within the first five minutes. But of course on my birthday, the Jets couldn’t just lose. The game had to be a downright embarrassment. Sam Darnold gets micd up saying he’s “seeing ghosts”. He turns it over like a million times. And the Jets got absolutely wrecked. It was depressing as hell. The dozen beers I kicked back that night couldn’t numb the Jets induced depression.

Fast forward to now. Same Monday night TV spot. But things are very different. this time around, I want the Jets to lose. I want the Patriots to win. I want the Jets to get another step closer to a prospect I think can save the franchise.

But based on what I’ve seen from this team my whole life, and on my birthday last year, why would the Jets deliver what I want? This has Jets victory written all over it. I’m terrified of this game. I guess we will see soon enough
 
Just heard on Boomer and Gio that Jets under Gase have lost more game (8) by over 20 points than they have won under him in total (7)
 
Even given their incompetence, it's amazing to me that so many NFL teams know how to identify and draft guys like Metcalf, OBJ, AB, JuJu, etc. but the Jets literally never have 1 beast of an offensive skill position player from the draft. The teams that are playoff and superbowl contenders have 3-4 legitimate options they can turn loose at any minute. Home run plays. We always seem to be so slow...Tyreek Hill, DK...we never have speed like that on offense.
 
Jack - I am pretty sure you will get your birthday present this year.

SJUFAN2 - nice game by the Dolphins yesterday. Defense created a lot of turnovers and good specials teams play. Made it easy for Tua’s first game.
 
Mahomes threw for more TDs yesterday (5) we have all year (4), lollllllllllll Go Giants!.. and every other 1 win team.

Yeah. I really like what Flores has done here. He totally flipped the culture that existed under Gase (infighting, Lack of focus and accountability, lots of metal errors that led to being one of the most penalized teams in the league).

I really hope that Tua turns out to be a star. If he does, and we have another good draft/FA period this year, this team could be a legit contender. IF...

Yesterday was kind of boring from a Tua perspective. He fumbled on his first pass attempt and gave the Rams a very short field for an early 7-0 lead. He lead a short 35 yard drive a few minutes later to tie it. Then the defense went off and it was 28-7. After that there was zero need to have him throw the ball so they didn't.

A big win for sure, even if it was a little anticlimactic.

Good week for the Jets so far. Need to leave it all in the locker room tonight. Hoping for a big Jaguars win next week for some insurance.

Certainly looking good for them getting the top pick.

If I'm the owner of the Jets I'd order my GM to make it known publicly that we plan to build around Darnold and if we got the top pick, its going to be auctioned off.

Then after the season is over I let Douglas hire his new coach and once Lawrence is in the draft I pivot to trading Darnold and drafting Lawrence and blame the change on the new HC preferring Lawrence to Darnold.
