2020 Jets

The only thing that is keeping me from completely dumping the Jets out of my life is Joe Douglas. Because I agree. He's a smart football mind and I trust him.

I loved his draft last year. And now he has more picks and picks earlier obviously every round. He will do well again and we will get better

now... can he get the head coaching hire right? Is he even going to be allowed to make the hire with Woody coming back? Time will tell
What happens if they don't fire Gase?

Personnally, I think its 50/50 that they keep him.  Not that he deserves it, just that I can see Woody considering this a rebuild and that next year is the season to judge Gase on since he had to get rid of McCagnan's mistakes.

I'd stay where you are and take Penei Sewell.  He's the best LT prospect since Olrando Pace.

Been thinking about this, and I'm all in on Sewell. Draft Darnold a weapon with the next two picks and see what happens. I personally would still try to unload him and pick up a veteran QB who might be available, but I'm not taking into account unwieldy contract sizes in my daydreams.

What about trading Darnold to Dallas for the rights to Dak Prescott?

There will be too much backlash if Gase is retained. If they keep him on I am officially boycotting the Jets until the day comes where he is fired

How long have you been a Jet fan?  ;)
When was the last time you remember the Johnson family firing anyone just to mollify their fanbase?

Cleveland with Covid issues down top 4 receivers they had left top 6 overall. Jets may end season on 3 game winnings steak, draft in the middle of the first round (exaggeration), and retain Adam Gase.

Without Quinnen Williams playing it would have to spread to Chubb and Mayfield.

I thought Douglas did a good job with this years draft and I trust him to make the right decision about our QB situation. We have a ton of needs so I am fine if we stick with Sam for now and build a better team. Adding Sewell would be a step in the right direction.

it might have already been noted but Sewell is a huge Perron, extremely highly rated and he has two uncles who played in the NFL - so he should make a relatively smooth transition and live up to the " hype " -
why risk drafting any other player if our luck is #2???

Uncles
Sewell is the nephew of former NFLplayers Isaac Sopoaga and Richard Brown.[1

I've been a Jets fan since Day 1 when they were the Titans and played in the Polo Grounds in 1960. If Gase is the coach next season, I'm done!!

I know this hasn't played out the way Jet's fans had hoped but what about this as "Plan B"?

Trade Darnold for a 1st (or a 2nd+) in 2022.  Draft Wilson at #2 and keep all the picks to build the team around Wilson.
I can definitely see this as a plausible scenario if you fire Gase.   It's possible even if Gase is back, since Gase didn't draft Darnold.
Have you guys seen enough of Darnold to know he's not the guy?  Candidly, I don't have a strong opion on him.  I don't watch too many of your games.

I personally want to move on from Sam. I like him, he is a cool dude. Seems like a guy you wanna hang out with. But I don't think he has "it".

I am not sure what to make of some of these QBs in the draft outside of Lawrence, but for the past couple of years the best QB in the draft always seems to be the one not taken first, so if I were the Jets I would just roll the dice with someone, whether it be Fields or Wilson. Who knows. At least with a new face, there could be some hope for a brighter future. With Darnold, I think everyone will know we are probably doomed to mediocrity.

I don't expect to be contending for the playoffs next year so the most important thing to me is getting a good coach who can work with Douglas and have a strong draft. I kind of agree with you Jack regarding Sam. He seems like a nice guy and not sure what his ceiling is or if he can be more consistent. That said he is easy to root for and I know he is giving it his all so personally it would thrill me if we could win with him but realize that may not be realistic.

the more I watch film on the Jets these last couple of weeks... a big part of me wants them to draft Sewell, draft Najee Harris of Bama, and just become a power run team.

spend the rest of your picks on the defense.  Resign Maye. Get Mosley back. Try to improve that defense enough.

and establish an identity. And if that's the route we wanna go, maybe Saleh of San Fran is a guy I'd look at to coach the team. A fiery leader, a defensive guy. Who can focus on building the defense while we run the football and let Sam operate out of the play action. Just a thought

If there's a bright side, the Jets were actually trying to win. I don't think I've seen a team more committed to tanking than the Jags since the 1983-84 Penguins.

If I am the Jets, I don't think I can pass on Zach Wilson.  That guy looks like a really special player.

Colts for Luck.
Biggest tank job this side of the 76'ers.
