Played for Steve DeMeo as a Juco btw.

Would be a fantastic pickup for us. I’d assume Demeo has already been on the horn...
Initially committed to Syracuse, entered his name in the 2016 NBA draft after 1st year in JUCO. Interesting, wonder why he hardly played at WKU. Injuries?

Been canvassing news threads on D. Thornton.
Have come up empty on anything 'breaking' regarding his Gonzaga visit.
I guess 'no news is good news'...
Has anybody 'heard' any rumblings?
Here's hoping...

At what point to we evaluate someone based on what they are and not what they could have been? In 13 games last year, he scored 5 points. Not a 5 point average - he scored 5 total points.

Not sure what his situation was at WKU, but I can say Rick Stansbury is notorious for doing less with more. He by far had the best roster on paper in the C-USA and was projected to win the league and make the NCAA tournament, and he didn't make even make a post season at all.

Same story during his tenure at Miss State, for all that talent he brought in, he never made it past the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. He just underachieves with his rosters, he doesn't really develop his players or recruit guys that fit what he likes to do, he just brings in the highest rated guys he can find and hopes he out talents the other team.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Diagne with another coach played much better and had respectable stats. His JUCO numbers under Demeo were 10 PPG / 7 RPG. If he can come here at give you half of that backing up Steere, then I think that's worth a scholarship for a year, because as of right now, you only have 1 scholarship coming off next year in Heron, and I'm sure the staff wants to sign at least 3-4 guys for the 2020 class.

Good comments about DIagne, MP. Thanks.
I agree.
The Staff is probably angling for 2 Grad Transfers for the PG/backup PF/C spots.
Should they succeed with that 'plan', I think we'll have at least 4 'ships open for the 2020 class--since I highly doubt LJ will return.
Here's hoping for the best...

Potential help re Thornton & SJU?

North Carolina transfer Seventh Woods lists Gonzaga among his top three schools.

Possible. Although Woods could never really crack the lineup in his three years with UNC, he had by far his best game last year against the Zags (14 points on 6-9 shooting) - averaged 2.5 ppg and 2 assists in 11 minutes per game.

I've been scanning various Gonzaga and local news sites constantly this week.
I expect to get subscription pleas any minute now.
The good news is that there's been 'no news' on the Thornton pursuit other than they're pining for the guy...as we are.
Re Seventh Woods...it's great that Gonzaga is in his Top 3, but i 'think' he's a sit-out but maybe he'll try to graduate this summer?
Dunno.

Woods is attempting to graduate

Woods was a big talent coming out of HS and recall him being considered a recruiting coup for UNC at the time. Did have some injury issues and things never clicked for him with UNC, but very well respected by coach and teammates. With Cole Anthony coming in, makes sense for him to try to go somewhere he can play his last year. Would be surprised if he doesn't wind up as a grad transfer, but could be wrong. Hope it's with Zags and Thornton comes here instead.

Good points, NCJ.
I think we'd all sign up for that 'trade', for sure.
Be the 'missing' piece for next season, imo.
Here's hoping we hear of an impending DT visit to campus soon...

Looks like Michigan is also very much in the hunt for Woods as Juwan Howard, who Woods apparently knows very well, has reached out to him to express their interest.

FWIW, Eric Hamilton, UNC-G, still seems to be following TJ. Nothing appears ‘new’ about LSU in that regard. Fingers crossed.
And Devale Johnson, a 6-8 F, still seems ‘out there’ as well.
The PG ‘market’ seems maddeningly mum.
I’m sure the Staff is working all angles.
We shall see...

Hamilton is not being recruited at this point by SJU. No sense throwing out names randomly, better to wait for news of visits imo.

I am the impatient type. But that's wise advice. I'll take it. Least we know this Staff is working it. Thanks Paultz.
