2019 Transfers
I wonder if we are looking at grad transfer Rayjon Tucker out of Charlotte who played for Arkansas Little Rock this year. Big guard at 6'5" who can shoot it 49%, 41% from three and 77% from foul line. Was high scorer for ALR this year and looks like he could play some point. Also rebounds well - 6.7 rpg. Looks like he'd be a good pickup for us.
Yeah NCJ,Tucker would be a fabulous get--as would Blackshear--but both are being courted by High Major elites. In fact, Coach Cal even paid a home visit to KB's parents a few weeks back and RT is being sought by the likes of UNC, Auburn, WVA, Memphis (that name again), and Kansas.
But neva say neva, i guess.

Ha, yeah Paultz, guess Blackshear qualifies as 'never mind'. Lol.

All four years of eligibility. Went to Arkansas because of Anderson

Had offers from Arkansas and Baylor. 6’10 and 250.
Does he actually get all four years? Because he'd be on the six-year plan once he transfers and sits out. Not that we don't have time for a project, but I'm not sure sitting out two years in a row helps his development.
I actually don't even think about a kid being here for 4 years any more. For any one of a variety of reasons, that seems to be the exception rather than the norm. If we get 2 years out of a kid I'm happy. 3 years and I'm thrilled.

USC's Derryck Thornton will graduate and be eligible immediately as a transfer. Started his college career at Duke.

Zagoria

A big addition to the transfer market. Averaged 7.7 ppg and 4.3 apg last year at USC. Started 27 games for USC last year

Pretty underwhelming career for a highly recruited player.

I'd actually take a run at him. Worst that will happen will be him giving us 7 and 4. At best, maybe something clicks under Anderson and Thornton lives up to his long-ago promise.

Nevada transfer Shamiel Stevenson tells me that he has committed to Nebraska.

This will be an interesting one. He transferred mid-season last year. So he was set to be eligible to play December of this year, 2019. But with this 2nd transfer before he even played for Nevada means he will have to sit the entire season of 2019-2020 before he can play for Nebraska.

I agree
Wonder how crazy it’d be for Thornton to be receptive to TJs ‘rep’ as a guard coach guru and the clear possibility of thriving under TJs tutelage?
Interesting, maybe.

Still quite a few immediate eligible players out there. Not dire. Yet

https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Basketball/TransferPortal/?eligibility=Immediate

Then again there are few names we've seen not listed either. So not 100% the bible.
Kid name Tucker, 3 stars went to Arkansas Little Rock,CMAs territory., a couple other 3 star point guards., It would be great if we could snag one.
Just guessing, but Tucker is probably a long shot. He’s being courted by some blue bloods, including UNC and Kansas and ‘rising’ Memphis.
There’s a rangy SG, Donte Fitzpatrick Dorsey, known to CMA and TJ from his HS Days, still available as well.
Got to believe a TJ is ‘working it’.

Right, thanks Paultz. Didn’t think so. Noodling on some ‘possibilities’, including Dorsey and maybe Thornton and maybe a JUCO guard still ‘out there’. I’m sure TJ and our new staff are ‘working it’.
Andddddddd TJ is following Thornton
Braziller says we are going after Thornton hard. Landing him could be a game-changer for us, in addition to guys like Heron, Figueroa, Wright, Williams, McGriff etc.
