2019 Coaching Changes

True that Hoiberg to Nebraska if done, as the western world seems to believe, won’t unfold for a few weeks when they lose in NIT. Should they win, Miles deserves a chance to be back, but doubt in this world of instant gratification, that hapoens.

Have to believe, with all the recent internet and rumor smoke, Matt will join Hoiberg’s staff. If he sees greener pastures, so be it. The short term problem will be transfer target, and recruit fallout as a result. We’ll see soon enough. Hopefully CM, if Matt does opt out, hires two recruiters with AAU and NY/NJ contacts.
I would hope that if Matt A is indeed leaving he has already given Mullin a heads up so he react right away. I would think if we are changing staffs we want to get that done as soon as possible as the transfer market is starting to heat up.

I really trust Cragg that he is going to push the right buttons going forward.
I don't think good communication is particularly in style with this staff.
Another offseason of debating whether to hire Mike Rice. Can't wait...
Suspect that Cragg is a lot smarter than that. Just keep Tommy Amaker away from Queens.

It was my understanding Matt came to St. Johns to be back in NYC and coach with Chris. Nothing has really changed. Why would he make a lateral move to go to Nebraska? What does a football school in the middle of nowhere have to offer?

Whomever we get to replace assistants, please don't make it Mullin's successor. They're assistants for a reason. If Mullin resigns or is let go after next year, we need to get a head coach.

Football money. Hoiberg is a better coach than Mullin and hates to recruit, Matt A will be his guy.

I'm pretty sure that every head coach started out as an assistant. Coaches have to get their start somewhere.

I can come up with one off the top of my head.

I'm glad you picked up on my sarcasm on that one!
I've heard Buzz to A&M is done. I know it's been mentioned a bit.
You know what I was thinking is if Texas would try to get Buzz by firing Shaka and moving quickly to out-maneuver their rival A&M. Texas has the money to do it but it appears A&M is going to get him.

Yeah I've heard through someone close to Buzz it's done. But of course the longer Tech is alive if Texas does do that then you never know.

And if Texas does that I would look up flights from LGA to Austin

OUR head coach was not an assistant!

Another asst. coach to help with recruiting?

With regard to open UNLV job, Thad Matta was not a serious candidate. Latest name coming on strong is Mike Miller, former NBA player and current assistant at Memphis. His brother, Ryan Miller, current assistant at TCU, would join him.
