Just heard that the Big East was influential in our hiring of an A.D. FWIW, I’m happy about it either way. We haven’t had one since manetta.
The Big East made us get a full-time AD — as it should have. You may be conflating that with forcing us to hire a specific person.

We’ve had several runs with no legit AD over the last 25 years. It’s so bizarre and it really speaks to how inept the school can be at times.
Goff was a full time AD. However he was nowhere near cut out to be an AD at a major D1 school and it quickly showed
Goff was an awful hire and as you know the decision for him to leave was decided months prior. It still took the school more than three months from his announced departure to hire Cragg and they almost certainly would have dragged their feet longer with Meehan as interim AD without pressure.

Look at Xavier after Chris Mack left. They did not sink.
What does a school who has lost proven successful coaches to bigger jobs over and over but has also made the right hire over and over again have to do with STJ historically or in the present situation?
Nothing, SJ will always be a loser. Hope that makes you feel better.
No seriously what does one have to do with the other. Take out the histories, take out their track records, what does one coach leaving a successful program for a top 10 job have to do with Mullin's situation?
My point is a program does not have to sink into despair when a new coach is hired. Xavier was pretty barrren when Mack left and they got better and better as the season wore on and should be very competitive next year. We don’t have to assume 5 years of losing if a new coach is hired. Also, you only cut out one sentence of my previous post so it is slightly out of context.
I understood what your point was and you're welcome to have and support that opinion. I only pointed out this quote because in any context comparing the two situations was patently ridiculous. Don't really have a problem with the other positions you have taken up.
What is ridiculous? Gonzaga went to 3 NIT's and one 2 NCAA tournaments from 1980-1999. In the year before Few took over they were a Cinderella and went to the Elite 8 as a 10 seed and that was the first time they ever won an NCAA game. That is not actually taking over a stocked program. Mark Few went to the NCAA every year he coached (19) and won games almost every year. Mark Few is the person that built that program. It was nothing but a blip until he took over.

This string of correspondence relates to the Xavier analogy, not the Gonzaga analogy, that one was not ridiculous.

Everybody loves harping on the gloom and doom. Didn’t see anybody note Zach’s comment that he expects Heron and Simon to return. If that happens, we should be very competitive next year.

Resolve the Matt situation quickly and bring in an impact immediately eligible transfer and we’re in business. A long term solution it may not be, but at least some cause for mild optimism amidst the Armageddon that some have prognosticated.

Agree that a starting lineup of Mack-Simon-Heron-Figueroa-Steere with Wright, Caraher, Trimble Roberts, Williams, Earlington looks decent on paper. I didn't mention Keita because there's a lot of chatter he might be looking elsewhere. Add a good grad transfer to that mix and replace Matt and we could be ok.

Since we get by on "ifs", I will play along. If Simon and Heron are back, and Mack is a true distributor, then maybe, just maybe, the potential is there for an OK season. Still depends on no major defections, and immediate eligibility for Steere and Valdir. The Steere-Valdir show. Maybe in a few seasons that will be the case.

Agree, getting Simon and Heron back would be great. Always thought Heron was one year guy, but could hopefully be wrong. Impact grad transfer could be tough, but you never know.

I did miss Zach's word that he expects Heron to return. When was that?

FYI...........I will not pacify myself with hopes for a grad transfer again this year.

With regard to Steere and Valdir, I recall that Steere was going to be eligible at the latest after first semester but there was some uncertainty whether Valdir would be eligible this coming year at all.
Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any update on this.

I was reading on twitter but there are rumors that Cam Mack may go to Nebraska if Matt A leaves. The post is he really only has a relationship with Matt and not any of the other coaches.

Not sure if that is true or not.

#sjubb twitter is a cesspool filled with burner accounts and fake news. I mean Bobby Hurley was suppose to be our coach by now right ?

Just remember when everyone was thinking Simon wasn't coming back or telling everyone else they know he wasn't coming back the 1 person on this board saying he was 100% coming back was that poster that started in the rookie forum a few weeks ago and he said it multiple times saying is was from someone very close to Simon.

Who knows but hopefully he is right

My understanding is Cam signed a LOI. If that’s the case, he’s not going to Nebraska. In any event, my understanding is that he is toght with Figueroa and that coupled with the bright lights of NYC is the motivation.

Next we'll have a post that AD Cragg is rumored to be going to Nebraska with Matt lol...

If Cam wants out of his LOI I would find it hard to think SJU wouldn't release him.
This isn't Sidney Wilson showing up on campus.
