Welcome Marcellus, Josh, and Greg. The best of luck to you guys on the court and in life. Let’s go Johnnies.
That rumor of Williams now being 6'6" has officially been blown to hell.
But then how is Earlington almost as tall as Roberts?
6’10”, 6’8” and 6’6”. They ALL grew.

For those of you planning to go the Georgia Tech game in Miami on December 1, there has been a fourth game added that day,as two of Tubby Smith's former teams will battle it out.

@JonRothstein

Texas Tech will play Memphis on 12/1 at American Airlines Arena in Miami, per a source. Other games in event: Miami/Yale, St. John's/Georgia Tech, NC State/Vanderbilt.

I will be in attendance. A quick 20 minute drive from my place. It will be nice not having to get on a plane to watch the johnnies. I'll definitely watch Texas Tech game as well.

I don't know if we have any schedule openings for next year, but while driving yesterday, Nevada coach, Eric Musselman, was being interviewed and stated the team still had two openings for 18-19 and would love to play in a NBA arena.
If we don't already have a top twenty level school scheduled for MSG, Nevada would be a good test for our talented team.
Betting line showing them respect, as they are down to 15-1 odds to win national title, after the twins decided to return.

Nevada isn't a big enough draw to play us at MSG especially in a pre-Christmas game.

Funny. If the pre-season hype proves out, they will be the following year!
And that may be true of St. John's attendance clout following 2018-19 as well.
That's the way destiny dances.

A game like that not drawing leads me to believe the average basketball fan is an idiot.

I couldn't find attendance numbers, but I remember a poster here telling me in a response to scheduling Gonzaga that the previous game (2014?) didn't sell well. I think it's crazy for fans to not want to check these type games out.

Possibly a stupid question, but is NYC known to have big time college basketball fans?

I think there are a ton. They just aren't St. John's fans. So maybe the reason these games wouldn't draw is because we are a part of them. Bandwagon will fill up quickly this coming season, though.

Why did you begin your sentence with "possibly"?

No. Most big cities aren't as they are full of displaced fans. People don't move to Lawrence Kansas so it's huge because they are all united from Day 1

I was at that Gonzaga game and attendance was terrible.

Yes, but that was because most SJU fans stayed away, since it was not part of the season ticket (preseason NIT). Gonzaga was represented well that night. If an opponent like Gonzaga played a game that was part of the season ticket, they could probably draw about 12,000 to MSG. Similar to a Saturday afternoon game against Notre Dame, or a good Providence team.
A question to ticket holders; do we have any out of conference MSG game, other than Princeton?
Not as of yet, but still one non-conference game TBA.
Official announcement on the Georgia Tech game in Miami (complete with ticket info), for our Florida fans.

I see where tickets are going on sale to the general public on Monday, June 11, but do current season ticket holders get first dibs at the available tickets? I plan on going, with my sons who live in Florida, and I'd really like to sit among Johnnies fans.

Utterly ridiculous in a down year for the conference IMO. There should be at least 2 marquee games at MSG each year OOC if we really want the fans coming out. By marquee I mean top 25 and national brands. How many times do we have to schedule Iona, LIU, Robert Morris, etc. and complain about empty seats? If you want to be a big dog you have to face the big dogs.

That doesn't mean they're not big college basketball fans, just that they would be disparate college basketball fans. To be honest how many season ticket holders in Lawrence are comprehensive college basketball fans or just passionate jayhawk fans. There are plenty of college basketball fans in a city like NY so it comes down to what do you consider big time? If big time means going to great games even if they don't include your own team then it could be argued there aren't a lot of "big time" fans on this site, much less in NY. When I was in NY I made it a point to go to every college basketball event at MSG I was available for regardless of if STJ was playing or not, in fact that's how I became an STJ fan in the first place. Of course I was much younger and childless at that time, once age and parenthood kicks in it gets a lot more difficult.
