2017-18 Transfers

Yes but a Kentucky big man legacy was still highly thought of with good schools on his transfer list.

Wonder how many sit out transfers we could afford to take on for next year. Especially if we're not expecting anything out of Diakite this year.

I would suggest one, but the 2019 class has to be a strong so I not opposed to two. If you could land two that are the caliber of Clark and Simon, it would be hard not to take them.

I am counting Yakwe as gone and figure we may lose one more.

Despite all the conjecture noted by some on the board, I strongly sense Owens is remaining here

Great to hear. In the few losses after our 4 game winning streak his father showed some frustration on Twitter that I thought might have an impact on him staying for next season. The last two games his tone changed a bit to a more positive one.

That would be great. I think Tariq benefits most by the presence of a true big man type like Keita. If he continues to work on his shot and game TO will have a nice senior season with SJU. Hope he doesn't do something silly.

Keita/grad transfer at the 5, TO on the weak side at the 4 and Clark at the 3 really plays to their strengths better.

Exactly

Core 4 plus a productive grad transfer plus a hopefully developing Dixon and Keita would be solid 7.

Now if we could get a high upside transfer that sits out a year I'd be all for that in addition to the grad transfer

Reads well, especially given Keita's size. But fact is Keita has to show he's capable of playing big minutes, let alone starting.

He will def lose playing time to Kieta, even maybe his starting job. This would not be a bad thing since he has been foul prone early

Could be an approach considering Matt’s aggressiveness w transfers

I think we need a SF for depth purposes, unless team thinks Williams gives enough there in spot duty.

But I'm not sure if you go grad transfer route for that, or if you bring in a juco or freshman.

With Kassoum’s likely transfer, we have 2 ‘ships to offer. First guy is that prototypical Big we crave, other one could be a combo Guard (McGowens?)—although still puzzles me we need Guard depth, unless Ponds jumps to the NBA (which looks doubtful), and/or Trimble transfers—or an SF.
Also wondering, IF NCAA will change transfer rule to ‘immediate eligibility with standards’ and WHEN would that take effect?
I don’t like the rule and I’m bracing for major ‘agida’ over time—but maybe we could benefit initially with a timely transfer to us?

Good point. Watched Nova slam Providence last night late in OT. Their Bigs dominated the boards.
