2017-18 Transfers

his stock is at a all time high. Late 1st round or early 2nd. Gone! Mark my word
Bruh, he’s not even projected to be drafted right now. Come back in 2019 with that nonsense.

2019 ( 2nd round pick)

2018 ( undrafted)

Exactly. No need in spreading rumors that he's gone. It's been previously reported that he will likely test the waters and Mullins will help get him information, but it will likely least him to come back. And as noted, none of the draft predictors even have him being taken this year. It would really take a Kemba Walker like performance in the BET and NCAA tourney this year.

He's surely shown some magic this year, but he also finished the season shooting 41% from the field and 26% from three. It's pretty obvious next year would be the year.

Ponds decision is making some money playing in some foreign country/ the NBA minor league vs coming back to SJU. He may have a better shot after playing at SJU next season to get to the NBA but I think he will have the same options next year because of his size.
Don’t bet against a return
I hate to say this, but I unfortunately feel like his returning or not will have HUGE implications to the future of this program. Him returning will help things stabilize hopefully for the near future, potentially lead to a great season next year, and also that potential great season should lead to a recruiting boost. So yea, alot is at stake.

No inside information but I would be shocked if he doesn’t return.

.

Yep, I hope he returns next season but Shamorie should do what is best for him.

If Shamorie were assured of going in the first round, no one could question him for leaving early. As another poster said, that would likely require a Kemba like run by Shamorie in BE & NCAA tournaments. That would be great for both Shamorie and for recruiting/future of our program. Absent that miracle finish, it would be in both his and school's best interest to return next year and go out after a really successful season in 2018-2019.

I think Ponds is at least a year away from being an NBA quality player. Needs to get bigger and stronger, improve his D and outside shot. He probably could play overseas next season.
Our line up is a no brainer next year.
Ponds and Dixon start in the back court.
Simon, Clark and Owens up front. Clark shoots the 3 so well and can board. Simon is a great rebounder and scores best on driving to the basket.
If Dixon goes out Simon slides to the 1, Clark to the 3 and Keita comes right in. Keita will also back up Owens in the post.
Roberts and ME should each get 10 plus minutes a game at the 4 and 5 and Williams should get 10 plus minutes a game at the 2.
We will see what kind of shape Trimble gets in over the next 6 months.
No clue as to Yakwe or Diakite right now but wish them both the best.
Seems like we have a deep team but that is what I thought this season, so who knows ?
Agree with most of this, except for Simon playing pg over ponds. At least I think that’s what you meant.

Of course until people start leaving there's only 1 ride available to give this spring. If there are to be departures you hope that they would happen with enough time to fill slots with a contributor, if one is available.
They know of one for sure.
Who?

Has that stopped the countless players from leaving ever before ?
And that has also led countless players to stay. Your point? Hell, why you think Angel Delgado stayed with the Hall? He was told he was going to be a late second round pick, and he decided to stay for that exact reason. This has been well documented. Why do you think Grayson Allen came back to Duke?

Grayson Allen came back to Duke because everybody hates him and he needed another year of nurturing from Coach K.

Not a 2017-2018 transfer, but didn't want to start a new thread for this.

Former Johnnie Yankuba Sima having a good game for OK State against Kansas - 11 points, 2 rebounds in first half. OK State down 1 at half; in NCAA if they beat Kansas for a third time.

While getting them closer to a degree, neither one has improved their draft stock this year over last year. Casey Jacobsen a SG who I liked very much out of Stanford about 12 years or so back left after his junior year. He was basically told that it really wouldn't make a difference if he stayed his senior year or left a year early. Either way he was projected to go l in the 20's or early 30's draft pick wise.

In these cases it is not what we think, or for that matter what the young man is told by the NBA and his coaches. It is what he and possibly his advisors (whomever they are) ultimately decide and it is not always just draft position.

They should be in regardless. Their cross state rivals shouldn't be based on the putrid way they finished the season.

Agreed Austour. Oklahoma State is a tough tough team with some very good wins and finished the season well. Oklahoma on the other deteriorated as the season went on
