2017-18 Transfers

If that 3.0 GPA immediate eligibility rule actually passes, and I'm skeptical that it would, I'd be very surprised if that went into effect for this upcoming season as it would have completely changed how teams would have approached this past recruiting year. Would think 2019-20 at the earliest. I think we're looking at hardship waiver or bust.
You may be right, WIndy City.
The article by an NCAA Media contact mentioned 2019-20 to be the effective date. The other from AL.com said it'd be voted on this June and effective Oct. 15th--implying 'this year'.
Thanks. I honestly have no idea, but from a fairness perspective, i would have to think '19-20 much more likely. I'd personally prefer not at all - the transfer market in my opinion is already completely out of control, notwithstanding that we may benefit big time in this instance.

After Freudenberg & ML, may be time to retire it. :)
Third time's the charm.

Don't know if he is expected to be around, but given the situation, I would hope our coach wants to be around for the visit.

If Heron is eligible next year, I’d rather have him than a grad Big. A real difference maker, would be a real fun season. Fingers crossed. Can’t double team Ponds.

And Heron defends with passion.

Wonder if Mustapha gets a favorable
hardship nod?
Some guys saying yes, others doubt it.
Hoping.

If you need more evidence of Heron to SJU guess who started following him on Twitter?

BTW may want to start a separate Heron thread under 2018 recruits.

Got to say, if this goes down, it'll be one of the more surprising and unbelievable transfer pickups ever by SJU.
That I recall anyway.
Wow.

Actually, if Heron is eligible for 2018-19, the trifecta of Ponds, Heron, Figgy will be very tough to beat most games.

I expect Figueroa & Dixon will both be very solid, but you never know what kind of adjustment period they will have to high major Division 1 play. What we do know is that Ponds, Heron, Clark & Simon have already proven themselves to be top players at that level. Next year looks very promising, particularly if Heron is eligible.

True enough, NCJohnnie.
Just excited, so being optimistic about next season, if it all comes together.

Keita tweeted that zipped mouth emoji again like he did yesterday, that seems good. Also a cryptic tweet from Matt with NYC skyline that I didn't quite understand but i assume is positive.

All seems good.
Fingers crossed!

Wasn't Slice our "in" with him out of HS?
Would be pretty ironic if Matt could get a transfer recruit that was originally linked to Slice.
Dunno if true. But I think a poster commented y’day that Slice was ‘helping’ on this.
That post by 72 was either the dumbest or funniest post of the year. Depends on his intentions which were not obvious.
Oh i thought it was another poster, but couldn't recall...maybe simplyred...?
There was no emoji, so fooled me.
Actually wouldn't care who helped on this kid, if he transfers here.

I did mention Slice but I was being facetious. I generally don’t use emojis unless I want to make sure someone won’t be offended by my post. Otherwise, I leave it to the reader to take it as he or she wishes.

How about f) none of the above ? Think inference was Matt A.

Since it's official visit, maybe they are laying out red carpet with trip to Manhattan, nice steakhouse etc.
